I've had the Warm Brownie Sundae at a different Molly Moon's location, and thought it was incredible, so this time around I decided to get the version that comes in a Waffle Cup While still pretty decent, it certainly doesn't live up to the experience I had the first time around
As far as the ice cream itself, I went with cookies & cream. This wasn't bad, and I've had the same flavor before in a cup and found it pretty good, but I thought the scout mint brownie I had the first time around paired much better in this sundae. Disappointingly, though, I didn't get any of the salt that was present the first time around - which was huge. It started to get a little worse from there. The brownie, which is advertised as being warm, (it's literally in the name!) was certainly not that; it was in fact practically cold. The whole point of getting this is to pair the warm solidity of the brownie with the cold temporality of the ice cream, but when the brownie isn't warm, a fourth of that equation goes out the window. The whipped cream was not too distinguishable from the cookies & cream flavor that already existed
The main difference between the two times I've had this is this time around, it came in a waffle cup. Does this make a difference? In my opinion, yes, but significantly for the worse. There's just no point to this - the ice cream rises well above the waffle cup, and even when you get it below, it's very difficult to get both the waffle and ice cream in a single bite. What ends up happening is you just have most of the waffle cup left at the end and eat it plain
For the price, this will cost you around $10 or so. It's on the expensive side, but not the worst
Overall, it's still solid ice cream, but definitely could do without the waffle cup, and it has the potential to be a lot...
Read moreI had Molly Moon's a long time ago in Seattle and have always wanted to go back to try it again as I truly think this is one of Washington's best ice cream spots. I love that they have monthly seasonal flavors and the fact you can get half a scoop of a flavor and another half of another flavor. It's so convenient for indecisive or adventurous taste buds to try out their flavors or to enjoy one that you just can't say no to. My boyfriend and I just happened to be passing by as we just finished dinner and I saw that there was a Molly Moon's, and I told him that we had to go as he also never has tried them. The line was out the door but the employees were working efficient to ensure that the line kept moving. My boyfriend got us a waffle bowl which I never had and I got their strawberry shortcake and cookies and cream while he got the German chocolate cake and cookie dough. The ice cream was decadent and delightful. Each bite had little fillings of their respective names and it was just as amazing as when I first had them. They had seats and tables inside as well as outside which was nice as we had our dogs with us.
I would love to see more Molly Moon's in Tacoma, Kent, Renton or even Tukwila as it is just so far to get any. Until then, I suppose the best way is to get in Bellevue as my boyfriend abhors...
Read moreI still remain highly disappointed and upset about what happened to me here earlier this afternoon. I had an extremely disappointing experience at this shop. While I was standing in line, a blonde male associate approached the man behind me and offered him samples. Initially, I thought he was just assisting customers with their choices, but he then served the man behind me and processed his payment. When I spoke up about being skipped, the customer laughed, and the associate replied, “Well, he already got his ice cream, so I’m cashing him out.” I pointed out that I had been waiting in front of that customer. The associate then claimed they serve groups together. I clarified that I was not part of any group, but he completely disregarded me.
It wasn’t until I raised my voice and expressed how unacceptable the situation was that another associate acknowledged my presence that I had yes been waiting and tried to assist me. By then, I was extremely upset to the point I told my children we were leaving. Additionally, I hate to think this happened because I am African American, but I can’t ignore the possibility that my race might have influenced why I was overlooked. Even if the intention was to serve groups, the associate could have simply asked if I was with the next group,...
