I recently had the opportunity to visit Seastar, enticed by the prospect of enjoying their happy hour menu. However, what transpired during my visit left me feeling thoroughly dissatisfied and compelled to share my experience with fellow diners.
My anticipation was quickly dampened when I discovered that despite my clear intention of partaking in the happy hour offerings between 4-7pm, I was charged full price for the items I had ordered. To my dismay, I was informed that this discrepancy was due to my seating choice in the dining area rather than the bar area. While I understand the need for separate pricing structures based on location, it is only fair that such distinctions be communicated explicitly and prominently to customers.
Had I been made aware of this policy beforehand, I would have gladly chosen the appropriate area to benefit from the happy hour prices. Instead, I found myself navigating through a menu that showcased enticing options at lower prices, only to be unpleasantly surprised when the bill arrived displaying the original menu prices. This experience not only left me feeling misled but also caused unnecessary frustration and disappointment.
As a conscientious diner, I believe it is the responsibility of any establishment to provide clear and transparent information regarding their pricing policies. This ensures that customers can make informed decisions when selecting their dining options. Regrettably, Seastar fell short in this regard, failing to adequately communicate the distinction between the bar and dining areas' pricing structures.
While the lack of clarity regarding the happy hour menu pricing left a sour taste in my mouth, it is worth mentioning that the quality of the food itself was satisfactory. The flavors were enjoyable, and the presentation was visually appealing. However, this positive aspect was overshadowed by the overall experience, which left me with a sense of unease and an impression of the restaurant's questionable business practices.
In conclusion, my visit to Seastar was marred by an unfortunate lack of transparency regarding their happy hour menu pricing. The failure to communicate this crucial information to patrons resulted in a highly disappointing dining experience. I hope that this review serves as a constructive critique, prompting the establishment to reevaluate their communication practices and ensure a more transparent and pleasant experience for...
Read moreI got a gift card to come here and was excited to eat out at a super nice restaurant!! Sadly my experience wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for. I am a lover of seafood and I love clams. I have never had pesto clams before and was so excited to try them. Sadly my clams had sand in almost every clam. I told the waiter and they did take my food back. I then tried the mussels and sadly the curry sauce lacked in flavor and the mussels tasted a bit fishy in a bad way. I will also say the clams were very small and they didn’t really give you very many for the price…. We each ordered the steak and lobster and that is $94 per entree. We each asked for medium rare and mine was over cooked and my partners under cooked.. I really did not want to complain again but we were disappointed. The lobster was so good and so flavorful. We got the bill and I was so shocked when I saw the 20% charge. After looking back I realized in small print under the dessert menu it mentions the charge. I think they should maybe put that in the front of the menu in bold writing. I would have gotten a less expensive entree, if I was aware of the extra charge. Given the price of the food and the extra charge I wasn’t impressed. I feel the food should have been a lot better given the price tag. I hate complaining about restaurants especially during COVID. I’m sure this restaurant is mind blowing to other people but maybe I’m just picky. I don’t eat out at restaurants this expensive ever and eating here I was just expecting better results. The staff were all super nice and accommodating they even gave me a free dessert (coconut pie) and that was super delicious. My complaints are just about the food and general cost. For the quality it could be a...
Read moreA great experience. Elegant, modern ambience and one of the best seafood menus in the region.
Service. Greater let us know they were running 15 minutes late. They got our table within that time frame, no harm. Reservations are strongly encouraged. Waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and our food was delivered at the proper timing. They have the policy to include 20% service which is acceptable based on the really strong service delivered. We chimed in a bit more as a tip.
Ambience. Large room with very high ceilings. Decor and lightning give you the right atmosphere for either a business meeting or a romantic date. The room was packed and we had no problem sustaining a conversation. They also have a very nice bar area for you to enjoy a drink before or after your meal.
Food. My favorite was the Steelhead Salmon with Ancho Chile and shrimps (please add the Shrimps, they are deliciously prepared and make a great plate even better) . The Salmon was cooked perfectly and the sauce was smoky and not too spicy. A bed of broccoli made it all perfect. We also tried the breaded Pilapia, a bit drier but still really good. Second favorite was the Toro Sashimi, what an incredible texture and taste, so lean and delicious. To finish it all, the flour less chocolate cake (shared among 3) was a perfect combination of dark chocolate with some salt. As I wrote in other review, it was a birthday celebration and the dessert was on the house, which is definitely nice.
Extensive wine selection, whiskeys that you expect from John Howe. All in all, one of the finest options in the Eastside...
