I'd never leave a negative review on google, especially being a small business, because I know how deeply it impacts businesses. However, our experience with Meydenbauer and its staff was absolute disaster. Our team had worked hard, non-stop towards this show and because of their inexperience, false attitude, lethargy and incapability, our team was penalized.
Here is a detailed feedback that I have sent it over to them as well.
The lighting technician either wasn’t experienced enough or equipped enough or just not motivated to handle our lighting requirements. Our team has done multiple shows in the past and knows what they’re doing, but the technician delayed us tremendously with his speed. Many times he said, "these requirements can't be met", but it was never in a tone of "this seems too complicated, let me work with you to simplify and make progress." That's what you'd expect from a team player. How can it be that several members on our team were in part shocked by how the lighting engineer operated with us? That's significant data to indicate the larger problem was not on our side. However, our team pushed him to give us our needs and ultimately he figured it out after spending considerable amount of time on it.
The lighting technician had a very particular way of working that wasn’t communicated to us ahead of time. He wanted us to email him all our light requirements and only then he could start working on it. That delayed our rehearsal, because we didn’t have the requirements ready in the format that he wanted, and ended up doing all the work real time.
The lighting technician constantly indicated that we were inexperienced, and he indicated that indirectly many times. He was not comfortable in staying engaged and really dealing with minor issues like where if our team forgot simple things like giving commands in a specific way over the wireless. That should never be a reason for a show to not succeed. If that's the case then Meydenbauer should be upfront that only professionally (people who do it for a living) run shows are welcome to run there.
Every tech rehearsal, we spent nearly 40-50 minutes just looking for technicians who could help us set up the projector, fix lights, pull down the rods down to set up props, etc. The staff seemed clueless most of the times and kept pushing us to one another. At every other location that we’ve worked with, the theatre is set up and ready for tech rehearsals as we step inside.
The thing that completely broke our trust was the behavior of your team on the morning of show day towards a panicking customer, who is paying you whatever you ask for, in return for cooperation and help. No business holds the right to threaten a customer, especially on the show day in this case by saying I won't let you in. This is very much fiddling on the boundary of legal consequences, but more importantly on the facility satisfaction front that just finished any chance of us recovering trust in Meydenbauer.
Despite all the adversities, our team had still figured out a system to work with your lighting technician. We were following only one chain of command. Since your lighting technician was slow to process commands, our commands were timed 2 seconds before the actual cue. However, the only time our stage manager entirely lost their calm with your lighting technician is when in the middle of the show, while the show is live and ongoing, and lighting cues were so time sensitive; your lighting technician was browsing on his phone. He missed the lighting cue which messed up an entire...
Read moreGreat place, TriggerCon was hosted there. I gave 4 stars for 2 reasons, the food prices were slightly higher than I would have expected, and it was a bit limited for TriggerCon, that being the bad, the good is that the spacious floor space was great especially because i didnt bump into anyone, even with the amount of vendors present. The Security Staff at the door was great, i didnt have a single issue with their instructions or how they did their job. I am extremely happy that they hosted TriggerCon, and will attend the show at this location for as long as...
Read moreThis is my 2nd visit to this place...it's a wonderful place and it is a great edition to the Eastside - Bellevue. I attended the International Ballet School production of "Alice in Wonderland". It was a very good experience for both performers and the audience in my opinion. The performers work very hard to make sure that their production is First Class! The opportunity that they have to showcase their talents are to be commended. I can't wait for their next performance. The theater is great for the venue, with...
