After a lively night at a concert, our group of six wandered into McMenamins in Bend without reservations, hungry, loud, and, if we’re being honest, a little over-enthusiastic from the evening’s “adult beverages.” We were fully prepared for a wait or for chaos, but instead, we were met with one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. Our server, Raven, was nothing short of incredible. She welcomed us with an easy smile and an unshakable calm, even as we rattled off orders full of modifications and last-minute changes. She handled each request without missing a beat, making us feel like valued guests instead of a post-concert inconvenience. Her timing, attentiveness, and humor were exactly what our rowdy group needed. The food arrived faster than expected, and impressively, all at the same time. The two pizzas were hot, perfectly baked, and generously topped. The burgers were cooked to perfection, juicy and full of flavor, with fries that were crisp and golden. The pretzels with cheese were warm and soft, with a rich, savory dip that disappeared quickly from the table. The fish and chips were fresh, flaky, and piping hot, while the salad was crisp, colorful, and clearly freshly prepared. Every plate was spot-on in temperature and presentation, which is no small feat for such a varied order. By the end of the meal, every one of us was beyond satisfied, not just with the food, but with the atmosphere, the friendship, and of course the outstanding service. Raven’s professionalism and personality elevated the entire evening, turning what could have been a late-night scramble into a perfect ending to our night, and she even took time to take our picture.. If you’re in Bend, on a Bender like us post-concert, or just passing through, McMenamins is worth a stop. And if you’re lucky enough to have Raven as your server, you’re in for a treat.

Really cool spot housed in a converted 1930s Catholic school building. McMenamins has done a nice job preserving the historic character while creating a comfortable bar and restaurant experience. The atmosphere is definitely the highlight here - dining and drinking in former classrooms with original chalkboards and school features still intact. The McMenamins artwork throughout tells the story of the building and adds to the nostalgic feel without being overwhelming. Food at Father Luke's Room was solid Pacific Northwest fare with good variety. Nothing groundbreaking but well-prepared and reasonably priced. The beer selection features McMenamins' house brews plus other local options. The Principal's Office bar is a fun novelty - having a drink in what used to be the actual principal's office gives the place character you won't find elsewhere. Service was friendly and knowledgeable about both the menu and the building's history. It's worth a visit just for the unique setting. The food and drinks are good, but the converted school atmosphere is what makes this place memorable. Great spot if you're looking for something a bit different in Bend.

Small portions. Vanilla Bean French Toast $13. No vanilla taste and the portions were two pieces of thin sandwich bread. Mentioned it to the waitress who said several other people have had similar remarks. This is totally overcharging. The 🍔 looked good but lacked substance and only had about 8 French fries on the plate. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and so was the half cesar salad with grilled chicken. The soft drinks were not refilled and the place wasn’t that busy. I expected more out of McMenamins. We were really disappointed after driving 3 hours for the experience. I will probably return as a hotel guest for a better experience. A lot of features were not available to non hotel guests.

I purchased the special of the day Surf and Turf for 36$. This included shrimp and a filet steak. There were exactly 3 average size shrimp and at most a 3 oz filet included with Mashed Potato and Veggies. I’m not one to complain at restaurants, but the portion was egregiously small for the cost of the meal. Although it was tasty I will say. I let my server and the host know I was disappointed, they were both extremely polite about it and told me they would let the manager know. The waitress came back to tell us they couldn’t do anything for us because the price of meat was so high. I felt bad for the server and the host because they did such a good job following up for us only to have their manager undercut them and invalidate our concern. The manager wasn’t even polite enough to show face to a frustrated customer and spare their server a difficult conversation. I decided I won’t be back in for dinner again in the future after this experience. Additionally I would go so far as to make a point to tell other people to avoid this restaurant for anything other than a burger and tots. Even those are very overpriced TBH though. It was such a poor value and disappointment to still be hungry for what I spent on my meal. I’m a Bend local, I ate at Zydeco and had a filet a week ago and the portion was at least 8oz and for less. So the cost of meat apparently didn’t affect their portion. Very disappointing experience that could have very easily been improved upon with a little effort by the manager. Thank you to our...

Went to the pub yesterday and was highly disappointed. We had planned on making an afternoon of it since it was St. Patricks day, however, after being there for just a bit we decided to bail. It took a minimum of 15 minutes to be acknowledged by the bartender, however, he was serving people around us the entire time. After we ordered our beers, he served my girlfriend the wrong beer and I received nothing. We let him know it was the wrong beer and he gathered the correct beer. I still got nothing. about 10 minutes later, he looked over and asked me what I wanted to drink after I had ordered. He had left my beer sitting under the tap. I finally got my beer about 10 minutes after ordering which was about 30 minutes after sitting down at the bar. Realizing it was going to take forever to get food, we decided not to order food. I put my card in the little glass with the ticket and the lady sitting next to me was kind enough to flag someone down to actually ring us up because that was getting ignored as well. Total about 50 minutes to 1 hr to get one beer and get rung up. I understand they were busy but there were 4 people behind the bar, people were getting served but for some reason, it wasn't my day. I went down to Brother Johns and enjoyed some good beer and great food. I have had some good experiences here but this one has left a bit of a sour taste...
