The Stihl Whiskey Bar — Restaurant in Bend

Poor selection of whiskeys and way overpriced for the ones they do have. There are several whiskeys that I know you can walk in any liquor store and find in town here that they are consistently out of and yet still have them on the menu… past several times I’ve picked out 3-4 choices before finding stuff they have. I get supply chain issues but these are bottles in stock anywhere else in town and for a whiskey specific bar it’s crazy that other non whiskey bars have more of a selection. The overpriced part was wanting to order weller full proof and finding out it was $80 for a pour, for reference I just had this elsewhere in town for $22 a pour so that’s a bit insane especially since it was crossed off for it’s old price of $35 on their menu. I asked about another whiskey and the bartender told me no one has that whiskey in town in a rude tone, which is a bit insane because they have a few bottles no one else has in town like pappy van winkle so my question really wasn’t that crazy. Upon reading reviews I have seen many others complaining about a male bartender who we also had a horrible experience with and some of these are a year old, so it’s a bit crazy they still employ this guy who has no business doing this job harassing people for no good reason, if you don’t believe me check out reviews for here on yelp. We have had amazing service here from most of the female workers here who have gone above and beyond for us but this last time getting ignored by a bartender for no reason ruined my dinner for me. Very nice atmosphere & kudos to the staff!! Many selections of whiskey of course. My husband & I didn't know what to order so we went with one of their cocktail choices. I had a Satan's Circus it's with a cherry brandy & chili infused was exactly to my taste! My husbands choice was Blood n Sand this had also cherry brandy & a splash of oj garnished w/a cherry, oh man when you eat that at the end of your drink it's so tasty 😋 of course I had to have it😉 The menu doesn't have a big selection of foods which I like because it's not overwhelming. I had the Seared Ahi so delicious although had a whole lot of wasabi which I was told a lot of customers ask for more😱 that's crazy😛 I did try eating it all up but my nose was on fire 🔥 lol 😂 My husband went with a simple Clam Chowder bowl but they were out of the bowl "of course" so he wasn't to happy about that but yet he enjoyed it he did say it was really good chowder tho👍 Their prices are fair, if you're out & about definitely check out this place, we for sure will be back again! Came here with friends and had a burger, beet salad, pot pie, and a fancy pear drink. The drink was quite good, the burger was decent but not great, and I'm sure I'd like the whiskey if I didn't have to sell a kidney to drink any, but the "pot pie" was terrible. It didn't even have a crust, was really just a stew, and it didn't taste right at all. This place is pretty hip (unlike me) and it would have been nice if they'd explained that the pot pie was some hipster "deconstructed" abomination. The beet salad needed more non-beet ingredients but was otherwise okay. This place was loud but not really bad and the decor is nice, but of the three food items and one drink I had, only the drink stood out as being good. The staff was obviously overwhelmed, as it took quite a while to get things, but it wasn't intolerable (though I do tend to have a high tolerance for meh service).
