CAUTION!! Please read before renting with Alpenglow Vacation Rentals
Dear Fellow Humans,
I am writing my first negative review, ever. Unfortunately, someone needs to protect the public, so here is my detailed account of our week long and dual location stay with Alpenglow Vacation Rentals. This is regarding the DEPLORABLE experience my family and I endured during our stay.
The following grievances outline the unacceptable treatment we received:
Upon arrival, we were mistakenly placed in accommodations that did not match our reservation, leading to incessant harassment from the management. Call after call regarding the potential relocation we would have to bear if the other guests wished to check in. This left us unable to settle in and relax.
Despite no PRIOR documentation of apartment conditions, upon our departure, the management conveniently produced extensive photographs showcasing damages we allegedly caused. Making it incredibly obvious that they where utilizing this tactic to shift responsibility of their repair expenses onto us without affording us the opportunity to refute the claims (which we would have been able to).
False accusations were made to my elderly mother, who financed the trip, regarding the cleanliness of the apartment upon our departure. The reality was minimal, easily manageable cleanup consisting of a single trash bag and 2 cereal bowls.
Baseless allegations were levied against us, suggesting smoking and property damage within the apartment. Had the management communicated and inquired instead of accusing, we could have provided medical documentation proving my critical health condition and inability to be around smoke or drink alcohol.
Malfunctioning amenities, such as an unresponsive, television, burnt out lights and broken remote, rendered our stay inconvenient and frustrating.
The absence of heating in the apartment, compounded by the management's failure to address the issue despite assurances, forced us to resort to hazardous methods, including HEATING THE APARTMENT WITH THE STOVE. (They had disassembled the furnace so we could not utilize it and when we called to get it turned on they failed to come to our aid.)
Persistent disturbances from an alarm outside our accommodation, deprived us of much-needed rest and relaxation during our stay.
These egregious shortcomings resulted in significant financial burdens, with over $1,000 incurred to cover unjust repair expenses inflicted by previous tenants. Alpenglow Rentals demonstrated a blatant disregard for communication, professionalism, and ethical conduct throughout our ordeal.
In light of these experiences, I strongly advise against engaging with Alpenglow Rentals PROSPECTIVE RENTERS SHOULD: -EXERCISE CAUTION -DOCUMENT METICULOUSLY -PREPARE FOR EXORBITANT ADDITIONAL EXPENSES AND SUBSTANDARD LIVING CONDITIONS.
I implore Google to ensure the publication of this review, as previous attempts to voice our grievances have been systematically suppressed by the company. Only positives, it was very clean when we got there and you could reach them when you reach out. Not next to a river, but they did leave a note bottle of wine for the tenants it was prepared for when we arrived, though I couldn't partake.
I'm hoping the owner won't attack my review like she has all the others that have had like-minded opinions. Another example of the way you will be treated maybe?
Sincerely,
Kristina [Rental...
Read moreBuyer Beware - this company is very familiar with the "excessive cleaning" additional cost scam you read about in the news. We were charged an additional $600 with no receipt of explanation, except a number of pictures of a dirty toilet and windows. We followed the check out instructions exactly as described, and at no point did it say "also please clean the toilets." Is this not one of the normal cleaning activities performed after a week long stay? The other items included damages to the location that were already in place prior to our stay - we attempted to point this out, but received no acknowledgment of our email response. They charge an "Accidental damage protection fee" but it is a total lie - when reviewing their website, we noticed that the fee excludes basically any cleaning or damage. Unbelievably deceitful. Please be warned - use another rental company or add an additional $600 in fees to whatever you are prepared to pay.
Edited to add: The specifics mentioned in the response below are exactly the things that we attempted to point out were already present upon check in. We did crate our dog or bring him with us when we left the house, the "white liquid on the windows" was from the hot tub and resulted from our 2 year old attempting to "splash" us (definitely not 9 feet tall, nor something we thought needed extra cleaning), and the urine on the carpet was from a previous dog. Our 2 year old wears pull-ups to bed, and we did not notice the "feces on the bedding" although we did make sure to wash the sheets beforehand - for that I do apologize. However, I always make a point to book places and pay for the accidental damage and cleaning waiver beforehand - as travelling with a small child and a dog does increase the risk for damage. The fact that this place charges one (including a daily pet fee - which also apparently covers nothing) but excludes any damage above and beyond what I would hope they are cleaning for in the first place (bedding, toilet, etc.). This was the point of my review, and something I would like to make future renters aware of. Maybe only book to adults and excludes pets - hopefully those adults don't throw parties if you can't handle the mess of a 2 year old. We actually do take the check out instructions seriously, and very methodically ticked our way down the list - I would also add that you could make a more thorough list if you expect additional cleaning - or even change the name of the "waiver" to additional cleaning fee. If that is what an "appalling" house looks like, I am shocked...
Read moreRenters beware of the NW Riverfront rental,( Young PARTIERS next door). The Riverfront house is really nice, and a great location. The kitchen could be stocked better with cooking equipment, but the neighbor situation was unacceptable. .The day we arrived the neighbors next door had around 20 people in the backyard drinking beers, and smoking endless amounts of marijuana. The fence between the houses is about 2 feet tall, so it almost feels like you are sharing a yard. We saved up for two years to do this family vacation, and the first thing I am doing at the house is having a talk with my 10 year old about drugs and alcohol. The neighbors also smoke regular cigarettes, and there were many times that we had to leave our yard, and go inside, and shut all the windows and doors so as to not breath smoke. After another "day party" we had young people from next door sitting on our dock, and bench. Some of them were diving off of our dock, and hanging on to the dock from their rafts. That's when we called Alpenglow about our situation. It took more than a day for them to respond, and eventually someone from Alpenglow went over to the neighbors, and spoke with them. Thing were pretty mellow after that, but the second hand marijuana and cigarette smoke was always an issue.
In short, Alpenglow wasn't being straight forward, and they are certainly charging top dollar for the NW Riverfront house. After we were home we received a" how was your stay" letter. We responded saying the neighbor situation was unacceptable, and we felt we were due some sort of reimbursement for all that we had to deal with. Instead Alpenglow offered no discount, no explanation, or an apology.
Will never...
