I tried to bring my sister and her 7 friends here the night of her bachelorette party and we were treated awfully by the DJ, bartender, and bouncer. (Long review ahead)
We arrived at 8:30ish on a Saturday night and the place was nearly empty, with maybe 3 couples there (one of which was nearly catatonic on the couch below the stairs). The bartender at that time was really nice and he told us to come back around 10ish so there would be no cover and a DJ who would take requests. We left and came back just before 10, the place was still mostly empty with maybe 30 patrons total and some intense EDM/house music playing. The bride tried to request a song since there were maybe 6 people total on the dance floor, and the DJ straight up ignored her, and then told her no when she asked again. Then the bride asked the bartender (a different one than before), but she was equally as rude and told us “yeah we don’t do that here, if you want to request songs you can go across the street.” So we left with the bride super bummed out. As we were leaving, the bride told the bouncer what happened and he said “do you know how many bachelorette parties we get here a night? DJ’s don’t do requests, it’s an art form and a lot of work and they can’t just work a song in randomly.” This is the first DJ I’ve heard of that doesn’t know how to work a song into a set but what do I know? I just said that regardless, they didn’t need to be rude to our group and the bride, (even a “sorry we can’t do requests” would have gone a long way) but he essentially ignored me so we left and took our group to Astro Lounge, where the DJ there DID take requests and we had a fantastic night.
I’m not sure what happened in the last few years since I’ve been to The Capitol, but it’s clear they have a prejudice against groups celebrating (or maybe just bachelorette parties in general?). I could understand if our group was loud or drunk or obnoxious, but a couple girls in our crew don’t even drink and our group was very mild. Really bummed to have such a fun, welcoming place turn into the typical “too good for you” Bend vibe and treat our group so terribly. I can’t help but wonder if we might have been treated differently if the bride wasn’t wearing a white dress. This is not the place to go if you want to celebrate...
Read moreI have never been to such a place which is so racist and misogynistic. We were 5 girls and decided to go this establishment several days ago. It was my girlfriend's birthday who is of Indian descent and thought it would be fun to celebrate it at the Capital. As we reached there, there was a black bouncer who looked at my Indian friend and said she cant come in because she is Indian and he has problems with Indians. Then as we protested, he grabbed two of my friends from the back of their hair and threw them on the floor while laughing. We were shouting to tell him to stop and my friends were crying. I immediately asked his name and said i would like go talk to a manager and asked his name. He said his name was Debo and he refused to get the manager. He was a black man picking on another minority which makes me believe that he is nothing but an uncle Tom. He needs to be fired immediately because he is giving them a bad reputation. I helped my Indian friend who was brutally assaulted and was a victim of racial abuse to her feet. She was crying all along. I am totally disgusted, horrified and felt humiliated and more so for my friend. We have decided never to come here again. We advised my friend to talk to an attorney and the state to take action against this club. I cant believe that they can assault women and racially profile people. They are not going to get away with this. I told that bouncer that. I dont want anyone from the club reaching out to or replying to my post. I dont want apologizes but want this club to be financially penalized, criminally reprimanded by the state and get shut. I will not stop till that is done. I am reaching out to everyone and especially women and folks of different minorities to stop going to this racist and...
Read moreI was here for a Caberet show. Showed up an hour early to get some dinner. At first I was happily surprised to see signs for "happy hour" with what looked like really good prices, unfortunately it wasn't so great. I had to ask repeatedly about "happy hour" as the menus for that were not on tables. I was able to order finally but was sadly disappointed. I verified that my $6 burger came with fries "o yes". I ordered a simple bleu chs burger(w/ tots) and roasted cauliflower appetizer. The place was still pretty empty when I ordered. 20 min later my server tells me "sorry, it would be an additional $4 for tots or fries...even though the regular menu includes it". Ok..fine. another 20 min goes by before I recieved my food....and it was cold. So after 40 minutes of waiting in an almost empty high end restaurant I recieved a barely warm burger that was about half the size of the bun with one tiny piece of spring lettuce( no other toppings) and a tiny bit of Bleu chs that I could barely taste. The brioche bun was so dry that I could barely choke it down. Cauliflower was better but a tiny portion for an appetizer. The worst was getting the bill... I was chrged $6 for the dry burger with no side, $2 more for chs and $4 for the tiny app... the "happy hour" is a sham and the food isn't great. This place is a nightclub for cocktails only....except I was OVERCHARGED for my happy hour drink as well. Super sad to see as we had high hopes for the Capitol. I had plenty of friends eating that night who ALL had the same...
