Moby Dick House of Kabob — Restaurant in Maryland

We always stop by this chain restaurant (this specific location is our first time) when we are in the area but I believe this is our last time.

This restaurant used to be our favorite for good food, nice portions, fresh bread (Naan) and fast preparation. However, this is not the case anymore since the quality of food was very poor. We had the family platter number 1 as part of our order. The kubide (ground kebab) was dry a bit and fallen apart. The chenjeh was small pieces, very dry and mostly burned. The homemade doogh (yogurt drink) was watered down and not close to what a doogh should be.

In addition, I highly recommend you to check your order before leaving the restaurant. In my case, we had ordered an extra side of kubide (ground meat kebab), which it was missing. When I called, they confirmed that it was there and served (however we couldn’t find it😂). So I didn’t argue it further since it is partially my fault for not checking my order.

We had a horrible experience at Moby Dick House of Kebabs that I felt compelled to share. After deciding to order takeout and carry out -we usually use Uber eats, I quickly realized that we should have just placed our order online. It was a complete disaster!

First, they gave our entire order to an Uber Eats pickup, which left us waiting for longer than 40 minutes without a single apology. To make matters worse, I noticed other customers who arrived after us were being served before us. When I finally approached the cashier for help, I was met with rudeness and condescension instead of assistance.

Overall, the poor service and lack of accountability were incredibly disappointing. I will definitely be staying away from this place in the future. It’s unfortunate because I had high hopes, but this experience has left a sour taste in my mouth. By the way asked for manager and they claimed no manager was onsite. Thursday evening???...

Its a great self service restaurant. The cashiers are nice and friendly, and you get an order of naan and yogurt with your order which is a great throwback if you’re Iranian. The food is decent, though their ground beef kabob (kabob koobideh) is not something to write home about. Their chicken kabob however is my favorite. Their salads are a little plain but their dressing is on point. Overall I’d say for a classic, chain, self service restaurant, they’re pretty good but I think they need to up their game a little if they wish to keep their good reputation given there are a lot of hip, modern fast food chains opening up in the area. Recommendations: Kashk e Badenjaan (eggplant dip) or the Shiraz salad for starters and Joojeh (chunk chicken breast) or Barreh (chunk lamb meat)...
