Man of man, where do I start?! This place is phenomenal!!! It all started when my wife and baby were taking a walk in the neighborhood, and she sent me a picture of their storefront knowing how much I love and have a hard time finding Italian food places here in LA. Well technically, Italian food places that I like lol Being an Italian American, born and raised in New York City, Iām a bit of a snob when it comes to Italian foods and pastries in LA. So when my family and I came in not too long ago to give them a try, my guard was up lol But our first impression blew me away! The customer service was phenomenal. The young ladies behind the counter was so friendly and patient as my wife and I were deciding on what to get while dealing with our baby running around the store. And then we met the wonderful, generous and sweet owner, Nando. Who on his way out, took the time to introduce himself and chat with my family and I. We instantly connected on being Italian and now in the Los Angeles area. Since then, my family and I have been inside a handful of times ordering and enjoying a handful of mini items. Their Italian coffee is delicious, so much so that Iāve even started to purchase their espresso for me to enjoy at home. And their cannoli, is a real authentic cannoli. Something I have missed dearly since Iāve been here in Los Angeles. Even when I have found places that also have real authentic cannolis, thereās just something about this that is delicious. It is freshly made and filled to order. How it should be! Although the pastries are fantastic. But honestly speaking, because Iām always honest in my reviews. Some of their pastries are not for everyone. They have pastries that are on the sweeter end, if you are into those and pastries that arenāt so much. Including another childhood lifelong favorite Italian pastry of mine called, sfogliatella. Iām not ashamed to admit, the first time I been to this, tears came to my eyes lol This place to me is special, it reminds me of home and my family in so many ways. I can go on and on about how delicious everything is and just how overall fantastic the vibe and energy is when you walk in those doors. But I wonāt bore you, Iāll just highly recommend you stop by for a delicious cup of espresso and something to eat. You wonāt be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreNice place! I only bought the 8.8 oz. can of Morettino Cremaroma Sicilian ground coffee. Of course, the beans come from other countries ā we are buying a Sicilian āblendā for a distinct taste and aroma.
WOW! My daughter and I really like this Sicilian blend. Easily equivalent to Lavazza and Illy in my view.
I can hear just now half of Palermo yelling at me - āIt is BETTER!ā
OK. OK!
My Keurig balks on very fine grinds like this. Hereās how I get around that: set the machine for 10 oz. It will balk after only 2 oz. come out. Unplug and wait 20 seconds. (Donāt redo the basket or anything else). Reset for 8 oz. and the brewing pushes on to completion.
Really good coffee!!
This is a new location for Castaneda Sicilian Cafe. Best Wishes and Good Luck in...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreLoved this gem of a cafe! Tried the panzanella salad, arancini, and Sicilian Palmer. The panzanella salad was delicious - loaded with focaccia, a balsamic glaze, plum and cherry tomatoes, and a soft mozzarella, with plenty of basil, and purple onion. The basil was the only green I the salad- but that was fine with me. The tomatoes were flavorful and the dish was delicious. The arancini was crispy and hot and the melty cheese and spicy sauce were a perfect complement to the tender risotto filling. My favorite was the Sicilian Palmer- itās an Arnold Palmer where the lemon is coming from a fluffy pillow of lemon Italian ice....
