Vegan croissants!! And amazing ones, at that! I've been dying to visit Chaumont Vegan for a while and was not at all disappointed when I did. We came on a Sunday morning around 10:30am for breakfast and something sweet. It wasn't too busy and we had no problem securing a table outside. The staff was very friendly and patient in explaining what all the amazing goodies were. It was tough not to get one of everything! What we ordered: egg & cheese croissant sandwich (loved it), za'atar argane pizza (loved it, comes with cheese on top), za'atar croissant (pass - love za'atar but didn't wow me on a croissant), matcha croissant (loved it - favorite sweet one), and almond croissant (loved it). Plus a soy milk matcha latte for me! We also got a few to go (because why not? ;)) - pain au chocolat, earl gray croissant, and chocolate orange croissant. All of them were great. The only part of the experience I didn't like was receiving my matcha latte in a paper take-away cup despite the fact that we were dining on the spot, and got plates and cutlery with our food. FYI there are parking garages around Beverly Hills that allow you to park for free for the first 2 hours (win). Also expect typical LA prices - this spot isn't cheap, unless you're stopping by for a single croissant (but who has that kind of self control?!). Will I visit...
Read moreThis is a long overdue review of Chaumont Vegan based on four separate visits, and a combination of inconsistent service and old croissants. In truth, we hate given this place 1 star as the idea of a vegan bakery is amazing. But on two visits, both Sunday mornings, the chocolate croissant and the almond croissants were clearly old (we're European and grew up with fresh croissants so we know what they should taste like). Of course you still pay full price. BTW, the plain croissants are always excellent - get those. And on three separate visits, the staff behind the counter is chronically short staffed. Vegan gawkers ask a million questions about each item before deciding and the line builds and builds. Every once a while a second person pops her head in to check how things are going and the young guy behind the counter never seems to accept help, so people wait. Today it was nearly 10 mins behind a gawking couple deciding and him making coffee. When I walked in, there was no one other than myself and the couple in front. When I left, there were 8 people behind me. For a place that charges $32 for 6 croissants, service has...
Read moreWOW just WOW! Normally I don't take the time to write reviews but everything about this place was so memorable. It's on Beverly Hills which is already a great start, waking distance to Rodeo Drive and the shop is so adorable! I tried most of the menu since I was on vacation and knew i wouldn't be able to come back. Let me tell you, you won't regret anything you try! Of course some pastries I liked more than others but i also think it has to do with personal taste preference. Even the ones I tried that i wasn't so crazy about i ate it all because the bread was so good and flaky. My favorite was the almond croissant, pepperoni and cheese, and ham and cheese!
I gave it 4 stars though, because I do feel that if you are going to be open at 6:30am but bring out all baked goods until 9am then just open at 9am. I didn't like that they weren't prepared...
