Our visit to Lakewood Cabins started off reasonably well but went downhill severely, to the point I did not feel safe, ended up putting a bench under the cabin's front door and ensured all windows were locked. My actions were a direct result of the confrontational, aggressive manner the on-site cabin manager (Dave) had toward my husband and my girlfriend's husband when he accused them of being in "violation" of the rental contract. Which is a false accusation, per the air b n b contract my husband agreed to at the time of his booking, no rules were broken. Any house rules, limitations, or local ordinances should be outlined specifically in the initial booking and not tried to be added and subsequently enforced after the fact.
Managerial feedback: If you do approach a guest you feel is in violation, I suggest taking a moment to assess the situation, and then approach them in a calm, diplomatic and hospitable manner as confronting aggressively puts individuals on the defensive and makes them feel attacked and question their personal safety.
My experience with the cabin... Cabin 7 was one of the nicer cabin options available (nearly $400 a night) and had glowing reviews, and I feel short changed that we did not have the same experience. The bed was smaller than expected, and while it was labeled a queen it only measured 59" x 79" and the metal frame creaked with every move. Additionally, the toilet kept kicking on to refill the water tank every hour or so, both sounds were disruptive to sleep and our relaxation. Also the cabin manager lives in the front cabin (very close to Cabin 7) and in our experience he was very aware of when we came and went. It made us very comfortable. I would highly recommend doing your research and reviewing all the yelp reviews, even the ones that might be filtered out, prior to booking at...
Read moreWe come up frequently and usually stay in the cabin that belongs to hubby's work. On occasion it's not available and we need to find alternate accommodations. The Lakewood Cabins is now our go-to place for those weekend trips. Small little studio and one-bedroom cabins so you're not dealing with neighbors above you or neighbors in an adjoining room making noise. We stayed in cabin 10 which is a studio. Nice comfortable, queen size bed, nice fireplace, kitchenette, clean & warm. If you're looking for a 5-star hotel experience with all the crazy amenities that go with it these are not for you. These are rustic little cabins that fit the bill for a quiet, warm, comfortable, clean place to stay while you're up the mountain. They are updated, easy to get to and are super convenient to just about everything, walking distance to the Village, walking distance to the Grizzly Bear Manor for a great breakfast. And a super reasonable price really can't beat it for the price.
· Honestly there really wasn't anything about this place that I didn't like. I guess if I needed to make a suggestion it would be screen doors so you can open up more than just the windows and get some of that clean mountain air coming through the room. Also ditch the 99 cent room fresheners. For someone who has allergies and is sensitive to smells it was a bit overwhelming when we first got there. Easily resolved issue by just closing the room freshener and opening up the windows for...
Read moreLakewood Cabins is so comfortable, convenient, and beautifully decorated! We had an amazing experience during our stay here and would recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Big Bear.
The cabins are located very close to Big Bear Mountain Resort, which was so convenient, as we didn’t have to drive far after a tiring day of snowboarding. We stayed in Cabin 7 and the cabin was very neat, felt homey, and was filled with amenities. In the cabin, there was a book filled with helpful information regarding the cabin and local recommendations, which was very thoughtful and helpful. We had all the kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies we needed to cook meals and even make s’mores! The shower pressure was super comfortable. There’s a TV in the cabin where you can watch Netflix on as well. The heating was so nice too!!! It was super cold out and snowing while we were there, but the heating worked perfectly and we were kept warm inside the entire time. There’s also a nice communal backyard for guests with chairs, tables, a grill, and a playground!
The host, Jenny, was very kind, responsive, and helpful. The cabin manager, David, was extremely helpful as well. He greeted us when we first arrived, showed us around the cabin, and taught us how to use the fireplace to make s’mores. Everything went smoothly and we really enjoyed our...
