This restaurant has gone really down hill. And this is coming from a regular customer who dines here at least 2x a month. Our last experience there a couple of weeks ago will be the last time we step foot in there ever again which is unfortunate for them. We also take a lot of our clients there, not anymore. I ordered our usual. The shrimp appetizer was super salty but I didn’t say anything, we just didn’t eat it. Ordered my usual for dinner, filet. It was SO salty I just had to send it back (which I’ve never done before). Waitress takes it back and a couple of minutes later we could hear the chef yelling angrily “they just want it taken off their bill, we’re not taking anything back!” Waitress comes back with the steak boxed to go without saying a word. Why would you give a customer something back they didn’t like to take home?? I called the manager over to speak to her because at this point I had had enough. As the manager comes over I could see that same chef come out of the kitchen and stands in the corner to listen to what I was going to say to the manager. Mind you, he was smiling while watching like the situation was amusing to him. So I called him over and asked him what he thought was so funny and I also told him we overheard what he said and he laughed harder and louder. The situation escalated from there while a female manager tried to calm it down. She felt so awful and tried to give us the money back for the steak, we told her to keep it and left. I left absolutely dumb founded at what had just taken place. It was the absolute most disgusting customer service I’ve ever experienced (besides the manager) and to say I was ANGRY was an understatement. Shame on the owner for hiring ANYONE who would treat a customer that way. For those of you looking for a great place to go with a similar atmosphere there is a restaurant called Market right down the street and it’s GREAT. Don’t waste your...
Read moreWe had dinner recently at a restaurant in downtown Birmingham, and overall, it was a solid experience with a few highs and a couple of minor drawbacks.
To start, the drinks were excellent — well-crafted and refreshing, which set a nice tone for the evening. The atmosphere of the place was lively yet relaxed, with a modern urban vibe that fits well with the downtown Birmingham scene. It’s the kind of spot that feels casual but still stylish enough for a date night or a dinner out with friends.
For our meals, I ordered the Lux Burger, and my wife went with the Grilled Chicken Club. The burger was good — well-seasoned, juicy, and definitely flavorful. It’s what you’d expect from a quality restaurant burger. That said, while it was enjoyable, it didn’t stand out enough to make me feel like I’d return just for the burger. Still, it was a solid, satisfying choice. My wife enjoyed her chicken club as well — grilled just right, fresh toppings, and a nice balance of flavors.
The service was mostly pleasant. Our waitress was friendly and welcoming, checking in at the right times without hovering. However, one issue we ran into was with the bill. We were a group of three couples, and she didn’t split the check, even though it was clearly a group dining situation. That made things a bit inconvenient, as one person had to foot the entire bill, and now we’re left trying to figure out who ordered what and sort out payments afterward. It’s not a dealbreaker, but in this day and age, it’s something that could easily be handled better and would’ve made for a smoother end to the meal.
In summary, it’s a good downtown dining option — nice setting, great drinks, friendly staff, and solid food. A few small tweaks (like better billing flexibility) would really elevate the experience. Worth checking out if you’re in the area, especially for a relaxed evening out...
Read moreI waited to see if any manager from the resturant would call me back, after hearing nothing I chose to write this review. While sitting outside during a business dinner, the runner bringing our food out spilled an entire glass of ice water on my lap. I stood up to get the ice off of me and was all smiles, as I understand accidents DO happen. She proceeded to just give an uninterested “sorry”, and walked away to get our waitress.
By the time the waitress arrived she had to go back inside and grab dinner napkins; so I could dry off. I asked if we could move inside since I was sitting in a puddle of cold water, with a cold breeze and she said, “when a table finishes up”; none did apparently.
So I proceeded to sit in wet clothes for the rest of the meeting. No manager or anyone came to check on us after that until the waitress cashed us out.
The next day I called to speak to a manager, to share feedback on how this situation could have been handled differently. Whoever answered rudely said all they could have done was comp an appetizer or as they stated give me some “some free fries or something”. They stated that since my meal was ordered I would have had to pay for it regardless.
I didn’t call asking for a refund or wanting a freebie, and to be clear nothing was comped on the bill regardless. I called to hopefully save the next person that will have to sit in ice cold wet clothes during their dinner, since the waitstaff was unaware on what to do. I was told the owner would call me and it’s been weeks in which she failed to do so, so unfortunately I had to write this review. I don’t think I will be taking any clients to this establishment anytime soon, very distasteful and not...
