1/2/24: MAJOR DOWNGRADE.... 1st let me say I sent the restaurant an email with all the issues first and waited a week - there is no response from them, so here is the review. harvest has been our go to fo a nice meal every time we visit blueridge annually... well not anymore. This visit was crap. I dont leave bad reviews typically, and I try to be fair on all reviews. I have nothing good to say this time. The service was a mess. Im being polite so i wont detail the serves issues, i will just say it was not good. The meal started with The waiter took my drink order and walked away, ignoring the 3 other people at my table sitting quietly waiting to place their order too. The pimento appetizer tasted like grocery store pimento spread with ritz crackers. for the money i expect better. The appetizer apple onion soup was cold, the grated cheese on top was whole and not melted and the soup was bitter. (it is not normally bitter) My husbands meatloaf smelled gamey like old meat and tasted weird but not neccessarily spoiled. (He did have stomach trouble later that evening tho) My nephews pasta was noted to be boring and flavorless. I ordered my steak medium rare, it came out well well well done with ice cold raw previously frozen cauliflower. If it wasnt previously frozen idk how they made it limp and rubbery and ice cold all at once. They were confused by my request for it to be remade (very politely of course) and the bus boy/food expediter kiddo had to come ask what was wrong with my steak. It then took 40 mins to get the replacement and my whole table was done eating already so they had to sit there while i ate. I finished the steak and skipped the veggies. The sauce on the steak was nearly non existent and had no flavor. The mushrooms were good though. The alcoholic beverages were so so - normally the craft cocktails are awesome and we will have a few each. These were just meh so we didnt try want more. (i tried 2, hubs tried 1) At no point did a manager come to speak to us, and there was no attempt to see what was wrong or appologize for the terrible service/food. the only person that asked any quesitons about the problems was the food runner kiddo, and that was just to find out how the steak was supposed to have been cooked. We were so disappointed that our favorite place has gone to s#it, so we decided to google a little and discovered that they sold out in 2024 sometime. I am so sad to see our fav place be someplace we wont eat again.
prior to 2024: We eat here every time we're in Blue Ridge because the food is nothing short of spectacular ... everytime. The drinks are pretty good too. I can't really name too many restaurants that I've been to that have consistently had amazing top chef grade food. Harvest on Maine always ticks that Box and that's why we'll always come back every time we're...
Read moreIf you plan on eating here make sure you have reservations! This is a reservation based establishment even though it isn't posted anywhere. We tried to eat here on Friday and weâre turned away due to us not having a reservation. We then made a reservation for Saturday. When we arrived on Saturday we saw at least 30+ people turned away because they didnât have reservations. Try here is no sign or comments on their website that state reservations are required. So I would highly recommend making one in advance. As the options for dining establishments are few and far between. The bar or chefs table is first come first serve and they have a maximum of 2 drinks per person to allow for quick turnover. We opted to sit on the patio which is located on the front porch with heaters. Our waiter Adam was absolutely amazing. He was extremely tentative, very knowledgeable and personable. We ordered the three cheese, corn and bacon queso dip as an appetizer. I wouldnât recommend it as it was very bland with no flavor. However we ate it without any complaints. After our appetizer we were extremely skeptical of how our entrees would be. We ordered the locally farmed rainbow trout and bacon blue cheese crusted sirloin steak. Our food took about an hour to arrive. Our waiter was very apologetic and gave us a free drink while we waited. After we finally received our meals and took our first bites. We were both amazed and extremely happy with our entree choices. As they were absolutely delicious and full of flavor. The steak was cooked perfectly with little fat and gristle. The trout was a fairly large fillet with the right amount of seasoning. Both meals were tender and cooked perfectly. After we finished our meals our waiter offered us a dessert on the house as a thank you for being so courteous and patient. We couldnât decide between the key lime pie and brownie. So we ordered both. The key lime pie was very light and had a creamy cheesecake like consistency. The caramel sauce on the side was the perfect little hint of sweetness and flavor. It was very refreshing and light. I would definitely order it again. The brownie had white chocolate chips inside like a tuxedo brownie and was drizzled with fudge with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. It was also very good but very rich. Our waiter thanked us on numerous occasions for our patience and for not complaining. He then proceeded to discount our meals 25%. Although we waited for our food for an hour and our appetizer was bland our overall experience was very good. Our waiter made our experience great and we cannot thank him enough for going above and beyond to ensure we were satisfied patrons. We will definitely be back and request Adam...
Read moreWay overpriced and a very limited menu. The host that takes your name to be seated is glued to the tablet he's selecting the tables from instead of being more courteous and engaging with his customers. He sat down a group of five that didn't have a reservation prior to seating us. The pasta was $28 and was dry and tasteless, all the cook did was throw a can of diced tomatoes on it to make it look fancy, the dish wasn't even hot enough all throughout, you can tell it was just microwaved. Don't eat here, you're going to end up paying a lot of money and it won't be worth it. - Regarding the response: I'm so glad you don't microwave or use canned food! I said that because I was trying to make a point that this is what the food tasted like, only in hopes that you may want to try to improve it, but of course, that's only my opinion. Also, making time out to engage with your customers can go a long way, no matter how busy you are, and it has nothing with a host choosing to be stuck on a device continuously. I've seen other hosts at busier and bigger restaurants manage this at a larger scale and they are still courteous and engaging with the customers. If it's such a "puzzle", it may be because you make it out to be that way. It doesn't have to be like this. There was a time when there weren't any charts or tablets available and restaurants would seat customers as they walked in without any issues. This could actually mean that it may be a great opportunity to revisit how customer seating and tracking is managed so you can make it more efficient and not a "puzzle". However, thank you as well for the comment about having me seek better service at a large corporation chain, although it has nothing to do with your restaurant improving. Customer feedback is supposed to help you improve and do better for your customers and should not be taken personal. Sending them elsewhere could send the wrong message, meaning - that the establishment doesn't care to be bothered, and it's easier to send the customer away elsewhere, rather than to try to improve and make it a better...
