As a person who has immense patience, this restaurant tested it. I arrived at 7:52 pm at the restaurant and sat down with menus. I kept trying to get a server who was taking orders of people around me who sat down after me or tables next to me who clearly had no notion of ordering anything else.
At 8:05 pm, I was yet to see my server and I got frustrated and waved who I believe is the restaurant owner or hostess down. She apologized and comped a free basket of chips and salsa. Our server finally came soon after and asked for my order to which I told them that someone else has taken it.
When our chips and salsa arrived, the server told the bus person that we didn’t order it and sent the person back. I had to tell them that we did and our server said that’s not ours. I then reminded our server that it was comped by the manager/hostess.
This poor service continued throughout the evening despite the restaurant getting less busy. We asked for waters and had to ask it 3-5 times. We needed drinks and would physically have to get up and wave them down which was shocking because the same server would ask the tables next to us if they needed anything. The whole experience was incredibly off putting. I totally get it when there is a busy restaurant. But you have bus people around who could help you with water or when they go up to you to say that we needed attention, instead of being distracted by another table who waved you down, don’t make us wait for another 5 minutes. Or be courteous enough to tell us that you’ll be right with us. When the restaurant became less busy, our server was still pretty MIA.
Perhaps the food was decent. The food arrived incredibly fast which is the only reason I’m giving this review 2 stars . But from this entire experience, I am not returning back to Cósmica because the food was not mind blowing and likely soured by such poor management of their staff to be good at their jobs. I was close to not leaving a tip for our table but in this economy , that would not be fair on...
Read moreGo for: Trendy, out-of-the-way, sort-of-Mexican food and cocktails.
Avoid if: You're looking for real Mexican food, or a Mexico-like experience, or value your money.
Something surprising: It's connected to an otherwise reasonably priced small hotel.
Reservation needed? Yes.
Overall Experience: 2/5. This place was a total letdown, and as person that has spent time in seven different states across Mexico, it felt like the antithesis of Mexican food culture. It's just another hospitality group trying to scam people of their hard-earned money in an already-overpriced city. It started out with aloof hostesses unconcerned with making a positive first impression, typical in all mid-tier Boston restaurants. The dinner service staff were otherwise great, as was the actual taste of the food. But anytime you spend $35+ per person on food alone, leave hungry because of the tiny overpriced portions, and go to another establishment to buy more food, something is seriously wrong. Two-bite tiny street tacos for $8 each before tip? Come on. Some of the high-top tables were so close together that people were bumping into the people behind them, while sitting down. They also asked for a review at the end of the meal, so here it is.

Read moreThis was my second time here and I likely won’t be coming back. The first time I ordered the fish tacos and they were actually delicious, but you pay $20 for 2 very small tacos, so this time I decided to order an additional taco and it was $30 for 3 tacos, which makes it $10 per taco, absolutely NOT!!! Prices are honestly ridiculous for how much little food you get, but I won’t lie, the fish tacos are bomb. Drinks are also VERY expensive, and honestly they’re watered down with all the ice they put in and overall fairly sweet. Now, the service was okay. Our server was Adrianna and she’s a very sweet girl overall but extremely pushy. She came to our table to ask us if we wanted something else at least 5-6 times while eating our food and then when I asked her about the desserts, I kid you not, she came back at least 4 more times in the span of 3 minutes while we’re still deciding, so we decided to just get the check and move to the bar, it became somehow uncomfortable. Our bartender was Steven and he was wonderful, 10/10. So overall, the food is good but it’s just not worth the price, it is extremely overpriced. (Also, we ordered the pumpkin flan for dessert and it was honestly not good, so I wouldn’t...
