I was in the area for several days for a work event and I have to say, we kept coming back each morning to try something new because it was just so fantastic. I will mention that it was quite cold outside at the time and there was no seating available, but we were picking it up and taking it with us so it was not personally a thing that we were looking for.
Over several days I tried their: Maple Braids - 5/5 right mixture of soft and chewy. Great texture great flavor. Boston Creme - 4/5 Good balance of sweet and tart, also fantastic texture. Old Fashioned Chocolate - 5/5 again all around good texture and flavor. It's a good choice if you want something more simple but still some morning chocolate. Everything Bagel 4/5 - was a bit messy as the everything topping easily fell off, but was very good. Cream Cheese is already added for you, and is the right amount to keep it flavorful and chewy without making it too soft. Breakfast Burrito 4/5 - was much larger than I originally thought it was going to be (which is not a problem at all) good choice of ingredients that gives it a great texture without being too much to clash. And my #1 choice being above and beyond one of the best jam/jelly filled donuts I've had is the Raspberry Bismark 10/5 fantastic in every way.
When I'm in the area again I will definitely try to come back and try some...
Read moreI was one of the original opening bakers in this bakery, this is less of a food review and mostly just a review of the poor and mean management practices from the owners and other Gallows management. This was my first job after losing my younger sibling to a very traumatic event. I needed to get back to work and do what I was very passionate about which is baking, I made a mistake at work while mixing and owned up to it as soon as I realizes I had made the mistake. I remade all the product I messed up. Seth sat me down and told me "I don't care what you are going through at home. YOU RUINED this dough." again like I said I was going through some very traumatic stuff at the time, it was only a month after losing my younger sibling. BUT to have someone be so blatantly mean, I honestly had to leave. i have been thinking about this many times every year. BUT PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR MONEY. They are mean to their workers. Their doughnuts are way overpriced and not anything special. I really miss working here and liked what I did but dealing with the Management and owners was so Demeaning and degrading when they said these things to me. Also, as a baker with 5 years of experience they were paying me minimum wage. Please i urge you to stay away from this bakery and anyone involved with...
Read more5 years ago my fiance was cut off by a delivery driver at Blackbird Donuts. Since then he had refused to try them. Today was the day I finally convinced him to give them a taste. And let me tell you, he holds no grudge against them anymore. They were amazing and possibly our #1 doughnut in Boston. Word if caution, the filled donuts are to be handled with caution. They put a ton of filling inside and they got a little messy, but well worth it. The chocolate glazed was my favorite, cake donut but it melted in your mouth and a very good chocolate flavor. We also had the seasonal pomegranate which a nice refreshing tart flavor. Coconut Chai was equally as good with the chai filling bring subtle and not taking away from the coconut. But the 5 spice fig donut. O my way this incredible. On my third bite the jelly attacked me and ended up in my hair and in my pants. But it was still amazing. I could eat the filling alone for breakfast every day, wish they sold it separately!...
