Meat pies, meet coffee! Who knew Australia was the new Seattle? The flat white now being furiously marketed at Starbucks suggests the trend for southern continent influence is on the rise. You'll find that cappuccino-like beverage here, but also a thorough understanding of what makes a coffee drink great, and that's the coffee itself. I ordered a macchiato doppio, and experienced the delight of exquisite foam-on-crema, balanced with the snappy crispness of the espresso fluid itself. They must keep their machine well clean to enable the flavorful nuances at play in the cup. The brightly acidic drip, a medium roast, was just as enjoyable and complex; earthy, but not muddy. But I've not mentioned the savory pies! The last sheep walked off the station before I arrived, so instead of shepherd's, I ordered a curry veg. These are hand-held, though a plate with flatware was proffered. The pastry is surprisingly flaky, not overly greasy, and maintains itself hand-neat for the entirety of the consumption. The whole lunch time I was in this little shack, there was plenty of space at the window-facing bar, even though it doesn't look possible for there to be any room at all from the outside. Coffee instead of lager as a pairing for the pies works, but they are also available...
Read moreTried this place based on great reviewsâhonestly, pretty meh in quality and flavor. Whatâs worse? Hidden extra charges. Ask for a receipt and double-check your total before paying.
I ordered two iced lattes ($5.50 each), one flavor each, and almond milk ($0.80 each). Total with tax shouldâve been $13.38, but I was charged $16.91! Turns out, I was wrongly charged for an extra milk alternative (a splash of creamer) and an extra charge for flavors, even though the menu only lists a fee for additional flavors. That, plus the push for a tip, made this feel like a scheme.
When I asked for a receipt, the barista admitted the mistake but said she didnât know how to issue a refundâoffering me a dollar from the tip jar instead. There needs to be better training on basics like charging correctly and processing refunds.
Overall, disappointing coffee and experience. For better coffee, pricing transparency, and service, I recommend The Well Coffee House or...
Read moreMichelin Star! No but really, this place is amazing. 10/10 easily the best coffee I ever had. My brother & I were visiting from Florida and as my brother would say, this place is "Michelin Star!" I wish I could pluck this place from Boston and take it over to us here in FL.
I had planned for us to visit a new coffee shop each day while we were visiting but after this one we didn't want to try any where else, it was just too good. We both ended up loving what we got from our very first visit so each time we visited during our week stay we got the same thing each time. I got the Iced Aussie Latte (with whole milk + added coconut flavor) & my brother got the Hot Aussie Latte just the way it comes.
Each time we visited the owner was also there working and he was always very kind and great to talk to. I wish his business well because next time I'm in Boston I'm picking up my...
