Read moreTL;DR: Unwelcoming, racist business leader (Jennifer Scott / Jen - founder) and culture — do not support this business. There are plenty of other local wine shops and experiences in the area. I’m a longtime resident — go elsewhere.
I just had a deeply unpleasant and frankly traumatizing experience at Georgie’s Wine Bar (and Shop).
The business was closed, and I briefly stopped at one of their sidewalk tables (not marked or enclosed as official outdoor seating) to remove my sweater. I placed my tote on the table, and Jen — who identified herself as the owner — came out holding two opened wine bottles and stared at me before confronting me in a patronizing, belittling, and harsh tone. She told me not to "use her private tables for public changing."
I calmly explained I was just removing a sweater, but she doubled down, saying she didn’t care and that it was “rude.”
As someone who has lived in this neighborhood for years, I’ve never experienced such hostility. Her tone and disgust were completely unnecessary — and frankly, had racial undertones.
This kind of behavior has no place in our community. There are far more respectful, inclusive, and welcoming small businesses in Boston that deserve your support. I strongly encourage you to spend your time and...

Pros: great atmosphere and decorations.
Cons: my friend and I walk and we have a reservation, but no one attended to us for about 5 minutes. They were clearly busy and understaffed, but it takes no time to acknowledge our presence and say “I’ll be right with you.” Then when we didn’t get a table, they seated us at the couch with menus and proceeded not to attend to us. So we decided to move to the bar hoping we’d have better luck there. We I was finally able to flag down the bartender (who by the way was lovely and kind and sweet, unlike their “host”), we ordered a wine flight. They we “out.” We ordered the cauliflower, the we’re out of that too. We settled on brussel sprouts, a cheese board and a burger. brussel sprouts: BURNT cheese: the tiniest cuts of cheese ever (but good) burger: extremely well done (whyyyy) and so salty I could barely eat it. Tasted like they dropped it in salt.
Anyways, if the service was better and the food still sucked or the service was fine but the food was amazing, this review would’ve been better but it was the overall terrible experience that left me feeling like not only do I never want to come back but I’d like to let everyone else know what they might be in...
