Absolutely, horrible service from the hostesses and trash attitude from our server. Some coworkers and I had been interested in trying this bar out after work since our office is across the street. I called at 3pm when they had just opened and made reservations at 5pm for a party of 8-10 people. The hostess indicated we would have to push two tables together. Completely fine. When we arrived they informed is we had a high top and a regular table available. This was a bit annoying considering we called to reserve two of the same tables, as we had discussed. In the end another high top freed up and that problem was solved, but our server was rude and very tone deaf to the dietary/religious restrictions our party had. She did not attend to us for about 15min, when she came she did not bring or ask us if we wanted water. 8 people ordered 8 drinks and two people ordered food. My coworker with a religious dietary restriction asked if it was possible to have the beer batter in the fish and chips not contain beer. Our server, Jennifer, could not understand why she was asking this and very rudely responded with "well then you want the cod". We then sat for an entire hour without being asked if we wanted water, or able to get anyone's attention for this. Finally, when we asked for the check, our server inquired if we wanted to split the check. We said yes, and her distain for us was apparent. Our server, Jennifer, then proceeded to complain about how WE should have told HER at the beginning that we wanted the check split and how much work it is for her to split the bill now. It is not our job to inform her of this, it's HER JOB to service and ask us. When she returned with the check split 8 ways, she held up our checks and made an announcement to the table, but loud enough for the restaurant to hear, saying "FOR FUTURE SERVICES I WANT TO INFORM YOU ALL ABOUT VENMO". To which another one of my coworkers, who is not from America, responded "For your information some people don't use or can't have venmo because they're not from this country and don't have an American bank account." Being a former food service employee, I would never treat customers as rudely and inconsiderate as Jennifer treated us. My other coworkers being a former bartender and sous chef would never dream of treating anyone this way. It is completely unacceptable and we will not...
Read moreMy wife and I spent last weekend in Boston. We made reservations for dinner online prior to arrival. Upon arrival and check-in at the hotel we went to MJ O’Connors to confirm dinner reservations and have a couple of drinks. When we approached the desk, the young male behind the counter immediately stated they were not taking reservations, confused I showed him the text and email confirmation of the reservation. Again, without hesitation or even a care restated that they were not taking reservations. My wife and I approached the bar area for a drink to rethink our evening plans. There were no seats at the bar but a couple of high tables that were unoccupied. I walked back up to the front and asked if we could sit at one of those. Again, very nonchalant the male states no, you need to be on the list. We put our name on the waitlist and 30 minutes later we were seated. Not at an available high table but at a table for four in the back corner. We sat down and laugh amongst ourselves. 15 minutes later (literally) a nicely dressed woman came to the table and asked if we had been helped, we answered no and ordered a couple of drinks. She brought us our drinks and went on her way. My wife and I sat there being unapproached and completely ignored. The establishment wasn’t that busy, our area was somewhat empty and three separate waitstaffers walked by without even a glance. After our drinks we sat there and timed how long it would take us to get any kind of interaction. 35 mins passed and we both said enough is enough, I walked to the service area at the bar and paid our bill and we left. I, we, have never experienced anything ever like this before. We have praised the westin, laugh Boston, and the breakfast buffet to all- and yes, we also have discussed in detail our experience at MJ’s. It’s too bad to have such a horrible experience there when every other aspect of the event filled weekend was...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars I would! My friends and I decided to dine here, granted it was during a very busy time at the convention. With that said, when i put our names on the list, I was told the wait will be 1.5 hours. 1.5 hours later I checked in and was told that there were still 2 parties of 6 waiting to be seated before us. I expressed my disappointment, only to be looked at like I didn't have a valid argument. I know what you are thinking, why didn't we just leave? Well the truth is by the time it was all said and done, any other place we would have tried to eat in would have been over an hour wait. So we were kind of stuck. Anyways we finally got seated 2.5 hours later and I told the waitress, that the restaurant should comp us all a drink. She said she will check with her manager. We don't hear back from her. For dinner I ordered a habanero burger, medium well. When I got my burger, it came back well done. I sent it back to the kitchen. They returned 2 minutes later, with another burger which was, the same well done burger previously disputed over. Unbelievable! I told the waitress and she wanted to return it again. I finally said "no, I want it off my bill!" which she agreed to do. When we got the check, our drinks were not removed from the bill. The waitress never even said why they weren't removed. The take away from this review is that this restaurant does not care about the satisfaction of their customers. Next time I return to Boston, I will NEVER step foot in this restaurant and I surely will NEVER recommend this...
