I recently visited the rooftop restaurant at the Omni Hotel in Seaport Boston with my mom to celebrate her 67th birthday, expecting a memorable dining experience. Unfortunately, it was a disappointment.
The menu is minimal, with just three dishes that can be called entrées, clearly catering to out-of-towners or a younger crowd more interested in the scene than the food. The fish taco, priced at $24 for two, was the worst I've had. It consisted of a single, store-bought white flour taco with room-temperature fried fish drenched in sweet cream sauce--no cilantro, no freshness. An authentic taco should feature fresh, crispy ingredients with a balance of flavors. If you enjoy this version, you need to explore real tacos to understand good food (I am unapologetic).
The drinks off the menu were watered down and unremarkable, though a dirty martini was well-made. However, at $17-20, it's disappointing to be served in plastic cups. The Brussels sprouts were good, and the poke bowl was decent but far from the best. The salmon was not cold enough and poorly cut, with too much cream on the dish overall.
Service started off well but then fizzled out to the point of being nonexistent. While the view might justify a visit for drinks, I wouldn't return for the food. The restaurant fails to deliver a satisfying culinary experience, overshadowed by its location...
Read moreLocated in the Omni hotel on the 5th floor next to the pool. There is a DJ playing fairly loud music. (Not club loud but loud enough making conversation difficult). The service was fantastic and the staff was very friendly. The drinks were delicious. We ordered the CSG appetizer and the street corn was like crack. I wish it came with more of that. The guac was tasty and the salsa rather plain with a little kick. My husband had the coconut curry shrimp dish which was quite flavorful but the shrimp were too big and overcooked to the point of being tough. I had the garlic and mushroom bucatini which was just awful. I added chicken to it which was so dry it required excess chewing. There was so much oil in the dish making it truly unpleasant. The mushrooms and garlic were overpowered but what tasted like lemon? Would 100% recommend not getting that dish. The sangria was nice and I can’t remember my husband’s drink name but it was bourbon, hot honey syrup, ginger beer , pineapple and maybe something else but it was really good. Overall this meal was not...
Read moreAmazing place. Food, drinks, staff, all of it. Matthew, Ty and So made it a lot of fun and had excellent recommendations for things at Lifted and things in Boston. We stayed at the Omni, and let me just say: If you are at the Omni or near it, stop in and check this place out. Sit at the bar if you can because it's a great time. If you're staying at the Omni, you have to do your research because the hotel does not do enough to promote the many bars and restaurants that it has available. Our friend staying at the other end of the hotel had no clue that Lifted even existed. Between the hotel, it's bars and restaurants, be prepared to spend good money, but it's worth it.
And again, someone should let the resort/Hotel know that they need to send out a list of links the moment that a booking is made in order to educate the people who stay on what...
