A cozy spot in South End with amazing food and service.
Recently came here on a snowy evening. Despite the weather, the restaurant was packed, and we were fortunate to snag one of the last booth seatings available. Similar to other eateries around the area, the place had a homey vibe that made us instantly feel at ease.
For the appetizers, we had the famous Brussels sprouts and the coconut curry mussels. Covered in a thin crispy batter, the Sriracha glazed Brussels sprouts struck a nice balance between sweet and spicy, and dipping in buttermilk ranch made them even better. The mussels were solid, and I enjoyed its fragrant aroma underpinned by a riotous medley of ingredients including green curry, crushed tomatoes, and pickled chilis.
From the entrées, the standout was undoubtedly the truffled shroom risotto. Despite its unassuming presentation, it was packed with savory and umami-rich flavors. The salmon and the rigatoni were also really good, and I especially enjoyed the butternut squash purée on the salmon which gave it a sweet profile. With its messy presentation, burger was the only thing that seemed out of place, but it was still delicious albeit overpriced.
We finished off the meal with the blood orange creme brûlée, a good blend of sweet and citrusy flavors. Overall, it was a very satisfying experience, and I would highly recommend trying this place if you’re looking for a good fine dining experience in...
Read moreGreat diner on Friday night. Hands down one of our favorite places in Boston when we want a consistently good meal, some cheerful banter with attentive waitstaff, and nice place not to loud to hear my wife as we catch up after a long week! Tip: small place and all seats are great; but would ask for one of 4 window tables or patio in front (as long as sun will have gone behind buildings on far side of street)... they are fantastic for people watching. Ambiance - 5.
Food - 4+ - Ordered Brussel sprouts (AWESOME), Rigatoni, and shrimp risotto. Small menu, but lives up to the motto of big flavors from a small kitchen.
Drink - 4.0 - Spicy marg, Justin wine, and prosecco. Nothing over the top (simply use a little Tabasco to make the spicy marg... a little heretical to us, but actually works); but spot on for what we were looking for. Bar tender recommended the wine, actually came over to make sure we liked the drinks (we were early, not too busy yet).
Service - 5.0 - This is actually a "FUN" place to eat because of the staff; everyone from woman greeting you at the door, to the table staff (waitress and bussers), and bar tender. They smile, are friendly and professional, and check in to ensure you have...
Read moreThis is a must-see restaurant in Boston. A friend recommended it based on a prior visit and for my first dinner in this beautiful city it was outstanding. It is small so I would recommend reservations but for a Monday night while busy it wasn't overwhelmed and it didn't seem like anyone waited long.
The decor, service and food (and wine selection) were all to die for and eclectic.
We split the sweet potato flatbread. Don't even hesitate or question: it's delicious and a tad decadent.
My friend had the cod which was perfectly done. I tried something different a veggie entré of acorn squash covered in a mixture of farro and pomegranates and pumpkin seeds and some cranberries. It's hard to describe but it was a perfect taste sensation, filling and absolutely delicious.
I don't often have dessert, but we tried the ginger apple cake and it was stunning. It was late but I should have had coffee with it but on it's own scrumptious is the only word.
I will definitely come back. Dress code was casual but I would bring clients to lunch or dinner hear post-meeting...
