If I could give Sissy K’s zero stars, I would. This place doesn’t just fail in customer service, it outright engages in discriminatory and ignorant behavior.
A friend of mine, who is a U.S. citizen with a valid Puerto Rican ID, was denied entry on the ridiculous and completely unlawful grounds that Puerto Rican identification is “not valid.” Let’s be crystal clear: Puerto Rico is part of the United States. Its IDs are just as legal as those from any of the 50 states. The fact that the staff, presumably acting on some outdated, racist, or just plain uninformed policy, chose to enforce this nonsense is beyond unacceptable.
Not only did they refuse entry, but they doubled down on their ignorance when confronted with the facts. The level of arrogance and incompetence displayed here is staggering. It’s 2025, and yet somehow, a bar in a major city like Boston still operates with this kind of blatant discrimination.
I can’t stress this enough: take your money elsewhere. There are countless great bars in Boston that don’t engage in racist, exclusionary practices. The management at Sissy K’s should be ashamed. I truly hope they get the backlash they deserve for this disgraceful treatment of paying customers.
Steer clear, unless you enjoy supporting ignorance and...
Read morethe food is great but the service is terrible. i ordered off uber eats and didn’t receive the item that i actually paid for. they had a special offer “if you spent over a certain amount you get free boneless wings”. which i did receive but not the actual item that made the promotion valid. since this was at night, they were already closed. so i called several times the next day. i left my name and number only for the manager to not reach back out. after calling one last night i was told “there was nothing they could do”. uber eats is telling me to go to them since it’s on them for forgetting the dish. they’re telling me to contact uber eats. the run around is just ridiculous. i even asked the employee if i could just come in and grab it. since i actually like their food, i would just purchase other things in addition to the item i already paid for but never recieved. the manager declined that too. i miss the good ol days when restaurants actually care about their customers and went above and beyond to service them. this definitely left a bad taste in my mouth and i’ll be taking my hard earned...
Read moreUsed to be a great place for after work. Wednesday went for trivia and the male bartender asked for my license and credit card. Sure for identity problems absolutely. Strange thing is he filed my drivers license away. I was carded to get it in so I thought man this is wierd especially being the only one they did this to. Got the tab in a hurry to catch my train and when I got home realized I never got my license back. Went Friday night (it’s a hike from my work and 90 degrees) to be told they don’t have it. I saw the girl thumb through 3 other drivers license. Gotta think why are they profiling and why the need for a license. You can’t have a policy in place and not follow through with it. It’s not even legal to keep licenses as forms of payment or tender. Welp looks like I’m going to have to buy a new one and wait 7 days. Thanks guys. Check with your legal team because I already have with mine. Not pursuing anything but hope a nice letter with cited case laws might...
