We came to The Berkeley for dinner as a group of five (my partner, his family, and me) and every single one of us left raving about the food, service, and value. We all ordered the $50 prix fixe dinner and tried nearly everything on the menu: clam chowder, Caesar, and spring verde salad to start; filet of sole and steak frites for mains; and both the flourless chocolate cake and crème brûlée to finish. Every dish was beautifully plated and full of flavor — not a single miss.
The room was quiet (surprisingly so for a Saturday night at 6:30 PM), but that made it feel like a true hidden gem. Most guests seemed to be outside on the terrace, but indoors had a charming, cozy bistro vibe — and we practically had the dining room to ourselves. The staff was professional but warm, and the pacing of courses was spot on.
We were genuinely shocked this place wasn’t more packed. For the quality of food and experience — especially in this part of Boston — the prix fixe is an absolute steal. Highly recommend this place before...

The sad part is, the day started off spectacularly, but then, things changed for the worse. For some reason, we were abandoned. We had to catch the manager’s attention to have our food ordered and we did not have the same server though-out the meal. The servers were extremely inattentive and we felt ignored. It’s like our table got lost in the dust. We also saw our order sit under the heat lamp for about 10 minutes.
Management needs to evaluate the staff that is working during a high volume/ high demand event. This was a very disappointing dining experience.
At the end, the manager, William, did acknowledge the terrible service that we received based on what he observed and did what he could to make things right.
William was very kind and understanding. Nonetheless, it was a very odd and disheartening...
Read moreMy wife and I went to The Berkeley for dinner before heading to a show in the theater district. Our waiter, Greg, was extremely attentive and mindful of our time table. His polish and class reminded us of European servers, but without the attitude :). The food was absolutely amazing. The mussels were the largest and most flavorful we've ever experienced. The steak (Steak Frites) was done perfectly. The wine list is phenomenal. We are partial to Loire and Rhone wines, and each one we tried was exquisite. Julia checked in with us a couple of times. Very personable. The quality of food, wine and service was that of a high end restaurant but at very reasonable prices in an elegant, relaxing atmosphere.
Berkeley will be our "go to" restaurant whenever we are in Boston! I highly...
