Last Night we had dinner at the Last Hurrah in the Omni Parker House. We had to try the Original Boston Cream Pie. It was the best. When the Parker House opened in 1855, chocolate was mainly consumed at home as a beverage or in puddings. There was no lack of chocolate in Boston, since America's first chocolate mill had opened in neighboring Dorchester in 1765. Since colonial times, New Englanders have enjoyed a dessert called American "Pudding-cake pie," but when Parker House's own Chef Anezin and his bake staff drizzled chocolate icing onto sponge cake filled with vanilla custard, something new and sensational was born. Originally dubbed "Parker House Chocolate Cream Pie," Boston Cream Pie became an immediate and perennial hit. The original Parker House recipe for the pie (which is technically a cake) was so popular that in 1958 it became a Betty Crocker boxed mix. On December 12, 1996, thanks in part to a local high school civics class that sponsored the bill, Boston Cream Pie was proclaimed the official Massachusetts State Dessert despite stiff competition from the Toll House Cookie, the Fig Newton and Indian Pudding.

Absolutely horrible experience. When I arrived I ordered a water while I looked over the menus, then I ordered the clam chowder, French dip and boston cream pie, with a cocktail. Soup arrived quickly, but was luke warm at best. Cocktail arrived shortly after, no water in sight, I have a swallowing disorder I require water with every meal to prevent choking. I request my water for the second time. While eating the soup, the French dip arrives, no napkins or cutlery and a small condiment container of dip. Still no water, I request it a third time, along with more dip and a napkin. Water arrives by the time I finish my soup. Still no extra dip or napkins, so I request them again. 30 minutes later I've had neither, but my hands are dirty from attempting to dip the sandwich in the tiny container so I have to clean them off, while I'm washing my hands the busboy trys to take my food and the table next to me has to stop them. When I return I requested to box my sandwich and to have my pie served on a plate so I can eat it and leave. Pie arrives boxed along with my bill. 0/5 stars

Had to stop by the Omni Parker House, for the Boston Cream Pie, and drinks. It is worth all the hype!!! We saw Peggy at The Last Hurrah, and she was absolutely fantastic. From the moment we sat down, she made us feel welcomed and taken care of. Her attention to detail was impeccable. Peggy’s knowledge of the menu and drink selection was top notch. She made great recommendations and checked in on us just the right amount always available, never intrusive. It’s rare to find someone who brings that level of professionalism while still making you feel like a valued guest. She is awesome. When you are in Boston head over to The Last Hurrah, do yourself a favor and ask for Peggy. She truly elevated our experience and made the night unforgettable. Five stars all the way! Only because I can give 5. It is a 10 out 10.

My husband and I have always stayed at the Omni Parker House due to The Last Hurrah being a part of the hotel. Recently, however, our favorite spot in Boston has undergone some changes, which have made it less desirable. First, they removed the taps and replaced them with beer bottles, which are often skunked. Very short-sighted of them, and I’m guessing it’s probably a new managerial decision to save a little money. I don’t know if that’s working out for them or not because we now sit at other bars that do have beer on tap. Additionally, it is now close to impossible to get a table or a seat at the bar. We know they recently had their long time manager (Frank) retire. Getting a table or seat when Frank was there was never an issue. What is happening now is complete mayhem. They will not let you in, even if there are empty seats at the bar. We were informed the capacity is 65 but there are 71 seats so that is why there are empty seats that we can’t sit in. Where is the logic in that? As we were telling the new manager that there are several empty seats at the bar, two people left and we were still not allowed in. Thankfully, the bartender helped us secure a couple of seats. While we are there we watch person after person get turned away, but they’re told they can drink in the lobby. Some do, but most go up the street to Emmett’s Pub. The lobby eventually gets crowded and sloppy looking. There’s a line outside the door to the bar, plus people occupying all the lobby seats, and again there are empty seats in The Last Hurrah. Between the taps being gone, and needing to have some good luck to get a seat even though there are empty seats throughout the room, we will be bringing our business elsewhere. We’re looking into other hotels in the area with a nice bar attached. The reason I am giving The Last Hurrah three stars instead of one, is due to the exceptional staff they have. Ryan and Andrew are excellent bartenders, and always make our night out more enjoyable. The wait staff are all excellent as well, and very friendly. The new manager, however, has been making poor decisions and he’s treating this high end whiskey bar like a twenty-something’s club. While I’m sure he’s a hard worker, he’s clearly very young and inexperienced, and in...

Went about 8pm on July 3, 2025 with my wife and 2 kids to have dessert…Boston cream pie. The doorman to the hotel was super nice. The hostess at The Last Hurrah, not so much. We asked for a table for 4. She looked annoyed and said there were no tables and didn’t know how long….when someone left one would be available and it could be 30 minutes or more. But that we would be next. I looked in and there was a table with 4 seats, but another group had their purses on it. I didn’t say anything and we said we’d wait. There were chairs in the hotel lobby area. We waited 30 minutes and were never seated. Right after we were told we were next a couple came in and she told him something similar to what she told us….but he complained about her lack of customer service and left. A few groups of 2 got seated. My wife decided to go to the bar and get dessert to go and we took it back to our hotel to eat it, missing out on the full experience and presentation of having it at the restaurant. It was good, and my wife said the bartender was very helpful. But beware of the hostess and her dirty looks and lack of customer service. We chose not to say anything to her as we knew it wouldn’t be helpful. They get a 2nd star because the cream pie was decent and we could have got the same thing at the the hotel prepackaged like we did...

You hate when one employee ruins an experience but it happened. I was out there with business partners and ordered three drinks. Kelly, after tipping her generously, decided to refuse us one additional drink (at the Last Hurrah) and “cut us off.” This is the first time in my entire life at age 41 this happened and during a work trip. I wish I could take the tip back and honestly feel the same way I have after someone has stolen something from me.

It was incredibly embarrassing being in front of people from work, but after the generous tip I wonder if it was because she overheard our political conversation and it was out of spite. It did not make sense but certainly and absolutely ruined the experience. We made friends with some people from a convention next to us who loudly shared their disgust in the experience as well. If it wasn’t for her specifically, it would have been a 5 star experience but sadly, she ruined it for all of us.

I would highly encourage people on business travel to not come here due to the embarrassing experience. Three drinks and arbitrarily cut off, in front of partners and prospects. Unacceptable.

Please note the timing was around 1030p if anyone needed to follow up. Very disappointed in what otherwise seemed like a...
