I’ve never written a review for any business, but this shop has gotten on my last nerve. Blackjack Pizza on Walnut has the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced at any restaurant.
Because they never answer the phone, I’ve gotten into the routine of just going into the store to place my takeout order and wait in my car or run an errand until it’s ready. However, on multiple occasions the employees have closed the store early (hours before they are supposed to close), turning off the open sign and locking the door, even though I can see them inside.
Tonight, I tried calling three times, with yet again no answer, so I went to the store to place my takeout order in person. I arrived to the store at 8:20 pm (they close at 10 pm), and the door is locked and the open sign is off. I see an employee inside making a pizza, but they ignore me. I wait as they walk back and forth from front to back of the store, and when they take notice of me, I mouth to ask if they’re open, they mouth back that they’re closed. I point to the door where the hours are posted and mouth back, “but you’re open,” and the employee proceeds to throw their hands in the air and mouth back, “but we’re closed.” They roll their eyes at me and look down to continue making the pizza and ignored me until I walked off.
This experience was my final straw. Blackjack has the most delicious pizza at reasonable prices, but no matter how good the food is, it’s not worth dealing with such ignorant employees who would rather do anything but their job. It’s unacceptable, honestly. The staff here is rude, inefficient, and seemingly plain lazy. I hope that whoever reads this is part of the management team, because this store’s staff seriously...
Read moreCalled in an order at 8pm, went straight to voicemail saying they are closed. Called again and the same result. The hours online say they are open until 10pm. I decided to take the trip there to order in person as I had enjoyed their pizza in the past. This is on a Wednesday night and I live close by so I figured it wouldn’t be more than a 20-30 minute endeavor.
After placing my order for a single pizza and breadsticks, while mentioning that phones were shut down and that their open sign was switched off, despite serving costumers, I was told it would be 10-15 minutes. Went to wait in my car with my girlfriend and came back 15 minutes later only to wait 10 more minutes before someone finally asked me for my name.
I was then told that they hadn’t even started to make my order because I paid using a student meal card. I have paid with this method before and this has never happened, and I overheard another person with order difficulties so I don’t think I was alone.
It is ridiculous that a store can just shut off their open sign and turn off the phones multiple hours before closing time, and then proceed to completely forget the order of the one person who comes in to order while servicing tons of other pickup orders using third party apps. Thankfully they make a good pizza, but I have never experienced a more confused operation. The employees were nice and offered a soda or cookie to me, but I think there needs to be a change in the POS so that orders don’t keep vanishing. Good pizza! Call ahead… if they have...
Read moreI have never encountered a worse experience for a fast food type restaurant. I ordered online and was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes. When I arrived at the restaurant, there was no one working at the counter and several people were waiting for their pizza.
There was a single person making pizzas (though mostly he was yelling about things to people who assume were in the back). Someone finally showed up at the counter to tell me my pizza had not been started but I was promised it would be ready in 15 minutes. He disappeared and the line of people in the store continued to grow.
After waiting 50 minutes, another person, who appeared very harried, came to the counter. I note that at this time, the people who had been waiting before me were still there. When I finally was able to speak with this person, he told me my pizza was not started, he did not know when it would be made, and then it would take 15 minutes to bake. I cancelled my order.
I later read reviews which echoed my experience. This store is clearly understaffed and the employees poorly trained. Shame on Blackjack for allowing this store to be open when it clearly cannot meet basic...
