OK, normally when people review a restaurant they review it for the food. Let me just say the food was amazing. But the purpose of my review is purely towards the customer service and giving a compliment to the ownership team for hiring such amazing servers. Our server was Mathew, but we were greeted by a very friendly guy that I cannot remember the name of. Both of the guys were serving and attending to all of the customers in the restaurant. They were outgoing, accountable, friendly, educational about the menu, and very complementary about the chef and his capabilities. Hats off to the ownership team for finding such amazing customer service centric waiters. That is so hard to find in Bozeman today. Truly amazed that both of them were so good at their jobs. The sweet potato purée below my trout had a brown butter/brown sugar garnish and it was incredible. The trout was amazing. My husband’s ribeye was also amazing. We will be back! Blown away. Thank you to the amazing staff!

Quaint little bistro with a unique menu and a talented chef. The service was very friendly and welcoming. We began with the bison tartare, which was finely chopped atop of grilled brushetta with caramelized onions and lemon zest. It was tasty, but if you added a few drops of extra virgin olive oil and some finishing salt, it would have been a home run. My wife and i split the next two courses. This course was a blood orange salad with candied walnuts and goat cheese crumbles. This was well balanced and flavorful. Then came the bison teres major. This dish was executed perfectly from the roasted fingerling potatoes and rainbow carrots to the seared tenderloin with demi glaze and compound butter. It simply melts in your mouth and hits the key elements... salt, fat, and acid. For dessert we had a lemon pousset which reminded me of a lemon chiffon. It was light and flavorful. Thank you for the wonderful meal.

I decided to come here for dinner, over a few places in town, and I was not disappointed. I had an amazing server, Haley, and Braden (sorry if I got your name wrong), and Matthew. Everyone treated me amazingly. From when I walked in, to when I left. Amazing service. I mentioned I was here for the tartar. He rang it before I even got my glass of wine because he listened to me. AND the tartar was absolutely incredible and perfect. Everyone was amazing, everything was delicious. I was originally going to heist for tartar but I’m so stoked I came here instead. (No disrespect on heist). Thank you, Haley, Braden, and Matthew! I really appreciate your customer service and friendliness. I will be back!!

Their attentiveness and knowledge of the menu elevates the entire occasion, offering helpful suggestions and making sure your needs are met.

And now for the main course: The food! Where do I even begin? The bison tartare was a personal standout. It’s perfectly seasoned and incredibly fresh, offering a rich and savory depth of flavor that’s truly one-of-a-kind. Each bite is an adventure, with the tender bison paired with subtle yet bold flavors that dance on your palate.

Equally as impressive are the beef pasties. The flaky, golden crust envelops a juicy and flavorful filling, creating a balance of textures that’s pure comfort food bliss. It’s hearty, satisfying, and utterly delicious.

Every dish is a testament to the skill and passion of the kitchen, and the entire experience makes it clear that this place is a true gem. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping by — you’ll leave with a full belly and a smile...

I had the pleasure of not only eating at Bitterroot Bistro on a couple of occasions but also working along with them in a professional setting.

Michaella and Colten Croskey, who own and manage much of the restaurant, are a sincere and heartfelt Montana family who deeply care about their ambitions. This is clearly reflected upon Bitterroot Bistro.

Gabe, the head chef, is a master. He knows what he’s doing. And he loves it. You can tell it’s his passion. As I worked behind the scenes filming his craft, he excitedly explained every action he took and why. The results spoke for themselves.

The food looks like art! And it tastes like it too. Even something as simple as a smash burger and fries is thoughtfully made in a way that makes it stand out. And it’s so delicious! Pasties, trout, bison tartar, and so on. It’s Montana with a fancy twist.

Each staff member is personable and professional to a perfect degree. And the atmosphere is a true bistro. Quaint and homely, but luxurious where it counts. Food geared toward affordable but with large portion sizes.

If you’re looking for a good Montana meal on the fancier side, reasonably priced with amazing staff, Bitterroot Bistro is the...

A Taste of Montana Heaven at Bitterroot Bistro Bitterroot Bistro in Bozeman delivered a truly memorable dining experience. While the entire menu looked tempting, the local trout immediately caught my eye and did not disappoint. The trout itself was cooked to perfection - flaky, moist, and bursting with fresh flavor. It was clear that the kitchen prioritizes quality ingredients, and the trout was a testament to that. The accompanying sage butter sauce was divine, adding a rich and savory depth that complemented the fish beautifully. The caramelized onions brought a touch of sweetness, while the pine nuts added a delightful crunch and nutty flavor to the dish. And let’s not forget the sweet potato mash – creamy, smooth, and the perfect comforting base for this symphony of flavors. Every element on the plate worked in perfect harmony, showcasing the chef’s skill in balancing flavors and textures. This dish was more than just a meal; it was a celebration of Montana’s bounty. If you’re looking for a restaurant in Bozeman that offers delicious food, a warm atmosphere, and a true taste of Montana, Bitterroot Bistro is...
