I don’t normally like to leave reviews, and we have gone to this place for years but we had such a horrible experience I felt I needed to share to save other moms from the same terrible treatment.
I came in with my kids and had ordered a meal ahead to go through quickly with tired, hungry little kids from the car. The staff was very ugly and told me I wasn’t allowed to sit down at a table even and could go outside on the sidewalk though it’s well over 100 degrees outside with my hungry kids because I had ordered the food ahead. There were dozens of open tables. I told her I didn’t realize, that policy wasn’t posted or written anywhere I had seen and I would know for next time. She didn’t respond to that. She refused to give me the already prepared food sitting on the counter if I was going to sit at one of the dozens of empty tables. I’ve never had a restaurant give me a problem for ordering ahead with kids but if they don’t want people to do that I understand. It should just be made clear ahead. She had no understanding or kindness. She tried to take the food that was already made back and make me wait in the long line. I didn’t say anything else and just said, “that’s fine. I’ll just take it and leave.”
The owner then came up and I hoped she would be at least polite but she showed she doesn’t care at all for her customers and where her staff is learning to treat paying customers so poorly. She was on such a power trip to make a point. It honestly was very sad. I wasn’t rude or confrontational but was trying to be respectful of her policy while keeping it together with my kids. She told me I “wasn’t special just because I had children. And that I needed to go get in line.” Her aggressive, rude attitude honestly was shocking to me. I was just trying to pay and leave by that point because it was just humiliating to have the staff being so ugly to me in front of my children and not even be able to eat in the AC before getting back in the car.
She then refused to give me a bag to carry all of the to go containers outside. I couldn’t carry everything well between the diaper bag and all the loose containers and dropped one of the containers as I was trying to open the door. The staff just stared at me. No one offered to help or bring me a bag or anything.
Honestly I just sat down on the bench outside with my children and cried. Maybe that seems dumb, but the whole thing was just strange. I’m just a mom trying to buy a peanut butter and jelly sandwich for her kids and I was treated really poorly. It was a horrible experience for over priced, food that isn’t anything special. You go for the family, small town environment and she ruined that for me and my family.
It’s very sad when a business owner cares so much more for her arbitrary policies and some sad power trip than for her customers and can’t show common kindness and courtesy.

Read moreSuch an adorable place! It is located in a building that was built in 1887! We were just wandering around Brenham for the day. I am so glad that we stopped in this little gem. We stepped in and only saw the ice cream area with some tables and counter seating. But, if you go around the corner and toward the back, you find more seating and the rest of the café. Odd setup. If my friend had not taken a further look around, we would have completely blown it off. My friend and I both ordered the #1 Combo (half sandwich, chips, a pickle spear, a side, and a drink). I ordered the chicken salad 1/2 sandwich, with a Caesar salad as my side and a slice of bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie. The chicken salad was really good. The Caesar salad was odd. It tasted fine, but there was some type of additional crunch other than the croutons, and it was in every bite of my salad. I couldn't figure out what it was. I did not finish the salad. The bourbon chocolate chip pecan pie was really good! My friend ordered pimiento cheese with broccoli salad and a slice of buttermilk pie. I was not able to taste her sandwich or broccoli salad, but she said both were good. I was able to taste the buttermilk pie, and it was good (but not like my...
Read moreWe had a fantastic experience at Must Be Heaven in Brenham! From the moment we walked in, we were charmed by the nostalgic, small-town atmosphere and the friendly, welcoming staff. The menu offers something for everyone—classic sandwiches, fresh salads, hearty soups, and an impressive selection of homemade pies and Blue Bell ice cream. Our group tried a variety of dishes, including the chicken salad stuffed avocado, the Reuben, and the daily special, and everything was fresh and delicious. The portions were generous, and the bread and desserts were outstanding—don’t miss the coconut cream or buttermilk pie! Even with a busy lunch crowd, the service was quick and efficient, and the staff made us feel right at home. The old-fashioned soda fountain and décor add a special touch, making it a perfect spot for families or anyone looking for a memorable meal in Brenham. We can’t wait to come back and try more from their menu. Highly recommend stopping by Must Be Heaven for a true taste of Texas hospitality and comfort food...
