NOT GLUTEN FREE FRIENDLY! I have celiacs disease and while I’m not usually ultra sensitive, I need to be gluten free. Our waitress made a point to confirm that the fries were gluten free and they had a separate fryer. She told us that other patrons rave about how good their gluten free bread is. After stressing that I have actual celiacs disease and not just a dietary preference, our waitress said that she’d make sure the back knew to be careful. When the food came, my burger was on a full gluten bun. Luckily my brother ordered the same thing and I could see there was no difference- so I didn’t eat it. Our waitress apologized and sent back for gluten free. I stressed that if they just take the burger off of the bun and put it on gf bread, I will get very sick. She told me that she understood the consequences of cross contamination and would make sure the the kitchen did not do that and that they were very careful. I asked for uncrosscontaminated fries while I waited for my burger because the rest of my family was eating and I think they just put the fries from the plate into a bowl and served them. When my burger finally came, it was on the most disgusting dry, crumbly, and tasteless gf bread. My don’t believe for a minute that anyone ever complemented it. Because the bread was inedible, I only ate the burger. Within 10 minutes, I felt very tired and sick to my stomach. That always means that I was glutened. It’s sad because they seemed so sincere about being able to do gluten free. I don’t know if it was the fries which seemed to have a coating on them or whether they just put the same cross contaminated burger on the bread or both. Thinking back, the burger was cold and a little worn out looking so maybe that was it. A gf chat board says that their fries are not gluten free. Our out of town family get together for the rest of the day was ruined and my health was very much affected for days. I will never go there again. If they can’t even get that right, I don’t think I would trust the place for even regular,...
Read moreWhen I think of poor management, I think about this place. We had 4:45 reservation for 16 people. We were attending the John Mulaney show at 7 so we figured that was safe. We were sat down upon arrival but no one came to our table with menus or waters until 25 minutes after being seated. It was very busy so we understood there would be a little delay. The waitress comes by and takes our drink order and apologized immediately saying that she had no idea we were her table. We ordered drinks, appetizers, and our dinner all at once to save on time and we told them we had a show to get to at 7pm. Drinks came out at a decent time but our appetizers didn’t come out until 6:30!! During that time we did keep checking in to ask when our food was coming and it just never came out. We took it upon ourselves to grab popcorn from the popcorn machine since we were starving. Wings and pretzels came out and the pretzels were cold. We asked to speak to the manager and when he came out he immediately started blaming the waitress. He says “I just met her today you guys she’s new and hasn’t been properly trained.” We told him to please not give us our dinner and we were okay with just our apps and drinks since we didn’t want to be late. We asked him to comp our appetizers since we were already inconvenienced by not getting our dinner to which he replied “well your dinners are almost done, and I have to comp those now and now I’m $300 in the hole.” This is the first time we saw the manager all night. He wasn’t going around checking on other tables and we were told that there were many other tables experiencing the same thing. Not only did he throw his staff under the bus, but he took zero accountability and was very passive aggressive. We ended up only having to pay for our drinks which was great but we left starving. Great atmosphere but I hope the owner knows that their manager is demeaning and rude. It’s too bad because we heard this place was great. Very...
Read moreMy husband and I were visiting Buffalo, and in a Google search prior to our visit we came across Pear Street as a must-do restaurant in downtown. Pearl Street was only a few blocks walk from our hotel, and it's also close to the Toronto Blue Jays stadium that was built.
We made a reservation ahead of time just to be sure we'd have a table. We visited on a Thursday evening, and it did not appear to be crowded enough to cause more than a 10 minute wait around the 6pm hour. We were served fairly quickly, and there did not appear to be a longer wait even when we left. However, I always recommend making a reservation when available on apps or through Google.
We were seated right away by a friendly hostess, and our waiter arrived timely. We had looked at the menu ahead of time, so we had an idea of our order fairly quickly. Unfortunately, my husband and I aren't big on craft beer, but he did try the Blue-Eyed Blueberry Blonde and he really like it. We ordered the Giant Pretzel, 9 Wings with Golden BBQ and Beer Cheese Soup to share. Everything tasted very good, we were happy to have some leftovers that heated up well the next evening. The pretzel is big enough to comfortable feed 3-4 people. I especially like the honey mustard dipping sauce. We decided on a pizza for dinner. We ordered our usual sausage and mushroom on the 12" crust and it was another great dish that we were able to save for leftovers as well. The star of the pizza was definitely the crust. The pretzel and the pizza heat up well, so save leftovers! We obviously ordered a lot of food, but being from out of town, we wanted to try a bit of everything.
Overall, this was a very pleasant experience. I would recommend this restaurant if visiting Buffalo, or a local. The only thing that would have made this visit better was being seated in a booth, not a table. But that's being quite specific...
