Horrible customer service and food was mediocre at best. We walked in its seat yourself so we did. About 3 min later we were asked if we could move to a smaller table because that one was reserved ( no sign saying it was reserved) but we moved anyway. Finally given menus then told she'd be right back. About 5 min later a man took our order and drink order because the original waitress never came back. Was finally given chips and salsa. Salsa had a weird aftertaste and was not homeade it tasted like El Pato sauce but doctored up. Waited and waited and waited for our food. Meanwhile it was not that busy 1 person came in after us, ordered got his beer, food, ate and lingered before our food came! I ordered a combo plate of cheese enchilada and a shredded beef taco and my boyfriend ordered a burrito grande. Not hard nothing crazy or time consuming. But it took them over 45 min to get that out. The waitress from before simply ignored us because another couple came in about 5 min before our food finally did and she promptly got them their menus and drink orders and made a point to look from the side of her eye at our table and ignore us knowing our food hadn't been brought or anything. No type of communication or apology that they forgot to out in our order. They finally brought our order. My boyfriend didn't try his and I had 2 bites it was warm not even hot and just was not that great tasting. Chili sauce tasted powdery and taco meat had a strange spice on it not a traditional shredded beef tasting taco. I do not recommend this place because of the food and horrible customer service. Communication is key if you forgot our order, fess up and say that. Don't ignore and act like nothing happened. Unless you're not looking for customers or...
Read moreAs recent CA transplants, we have been on a quest for great Mexican food. We’ve been to several establishments, including two others in Caldwell, one just this past Sunday.
We’ve been wanting to try Janitzio for some time. The first time we tried they were closed on a day they were normally open. Today, Wednesday, we came about 11:30 am. There were two other parties already seated. The ambiance is quaint and very Mexican, with colorful tile and art. It appears to be a mom and pop operation, with the wife cooking and the husband serving. He was very friendly and provided great service.
My wife ordered the mole enchiladas and I had the shrimp enchiladas. Both came with rice and beans. It was all delicious. In addition, my wife, whose parents were from Mexico, thought the mole as good as what her late mom used to make. That is saying a lot for the authenticity of the food here.
It seems as if we have found our authentic Mexican restaurant in the...
Read moreBeing transplants from Tucson and having lived there for 25 years, we're very familiar with Mexican food both of high quality and poorer quality. The food here is very good and the staff is extremely accommodating. It is an unassuming place and if you were looking for fine dining, this is not your place. The only "criticism" I would offer is that one of the grandchildren was playing in the restaurant and we made the mistake of saying hello to her. For the rest of our meal, she practically joined us. Walking on the seats, chattering, Etc. Again, we initiated it by saying hi and she was a precious child, but her mom did not stop her and let us enjoy our meal in private. I think the toddler was just trying to help mommy but I think it would have been a better experience had we greeted the child and enjoyed her company for just a minute and then Mommy took her away. Don't let our tiny negative experience deter you from trying their...
