So I've never had Valentine's dinner on Valentine's and didn't know it was a must to reserve ahead... Lol. Anywho, after a bunch of phone calls for steak houses, the wait was 1-3 hours, obviously. So my boyfriend and I settled on Japanese cuisine, since I was craving sushi and takoyaki. Called Aji Ten and said it was only a twenty minute wait. When we arrived we only had to wait like maybe five minutes even though it was packed. My boyfriend and I ordered croquettes(which came with 2 large servings for like 6 bucks) 10/10 delicious must try! Takoyaki (fried octopus balls, 8 for six bucks, what a steal!) 8.5/10. We also got the yomyom roll (something like that lol. Had white fish and eel and other stuff, tempera battered and fried) 9/10. My boyfriend got the tonkotsu ramen, cream based ramen with pork and poached egg, huge portion, 8.5/10. I got the Katsu, thin fried chicken, huge portion like four pieces, served with soup, white rice, Japanese cold potato salad, some side salad have no idea what it was, 8/10, well executed, but I wish there had been like a sweet/sour dipping sauce. Green tea ice cream, 10/10, likely store bought but it had a perfectly light macha taste, and as always with green tea, low on the sweetness scale but so refreshing and delicious. Was surprised it was 2 scoops, usually when I've had it's been one small scoop for 5 bucks. I will post the receipt to show the prices. I was honestly shocked how quickly the food came out, albeit one dish at a time but i preferred it so me and my boyfriend could experience it hot and fresh each time. Considering all the food we got the price was very reasonable, since there was enough for two to go boxes and a Togo soup container. Please know that the server might not be fluent in English, and please be polite and point at what your ordering while you say it to help the process smoother. Great service, great food, nice atmosphere. I hope you go and enjoy too! I will try to post the images in order of what I listed here. Looks like the sushi and takoyaki might be mixed up, so the round balls are...
Read moreUpdate Dec ‘24 - took some family from out of town for sushi. We had a great meal and the sushi was very good. This is more of what we expect from Aji Ten.!!!

This is their mulligan with me.
I’ve been going here for almost 8 years. That’s why I give it 3.5 stars. I know they can do better. But any place, with that experience would get 2 stars. I’ve overlooked things in the past, but not this time.
Would love to see some interior decor updates. No AC, always humid. Chairs, sticky tables etc, they finally got rid of the awful carpet. Time to spend a couple bucks for just a little comfort.
We usually go there for the sushi, which is always great; this time is was…meh. We ordered dinners this time as well; not so great.
The sushi was avg this time, the teriyaki steak and salmon…, I won’t order again. When the food came out, after asking what happened to our order, it was Luke warm at best, meat was tough and fatty, clearly a low grade meat, and salmon didn’t have much flavour. Maybe it sat too long, but it was like heating up leftovers halfway and eating it.
Saw my server once to take the order and never came by again. The other server I flagged down was very nice and helpful, she got our food when I asked what happed to our order, as I watched 2 other tables that arrived after me start and finish their soups, sushi and get the dinner served. We were chasing down our orders. So she gladly brought the dinner, didn’t know we had sushi, went back to grab it.
We ate the warm dinner, and half the sushi, chased down the check and we both said, we won’t order anything but sushi from here next time and if we get the server that took our order this time and disappeared, I’ll ask for the other person who seemed to actually care and do a good job for the restaurant. Despite all that I still tipped well as it’s likely pooled.
Stick to sushi and maybe try some of the...
Read moreThe waitress and chef at this restaurant will publicly shame customers who are not wealthy.
My friend and I recently visited this restaurant to catch up and, once we finished our meal, I left a $2 tip. As someone in my mid-twenties, I am not wealthy and currently between jobs. However, I took my friend to this restaurant because I have been going there faithfully since I was 15 years old. My brother even worked here as a busboy in the past. The food is not exceptional, but it is good, and it's conveniently located near my home. When I can afford to, I tip generously out of kindness. However, in this phase of my life, I have to budget, so I could only give a small amount of money to the waitress after our meal.
To my surprise, she began yelling at me, claiming my tip was ridiculous. She called over the chef/owner, who proceeded to yell at my friend and me for not paying his employee a more substantial amount of our hard-earned money. We sat there in shock, not knowing how to respond. I explained that it was all I could afford to give, but he insistently told me to never return, acting very aggressively towards us. My friend suggested we leave, as we noticed everyone in the restaurant was now staring at us. The chef even threatened me, stating that he knew my family and we should never come back, despite the fact that my brother used to work there and my siblings and I have been dining here on and off since we were young teens. This entire incident occurred simply because I could only afford to leave a $2 tip at this time.
Therefore, I caution you that if you want to enjoy a meal but are not wealthy enough to pay the waitress what her employer should be providing, it may be best to avoid this restaurant. Unless you are willing to tolerate being yelled at by both the boss and...
