Nestled in the heart of Carlsbad Village, just a stone’s throw from the sparkling shores of the Pacific, American Heroes & Brew is a must-visit destination for foodies and patriots alike. Owners Billy and Dale have created something truly special here: a welcoming space where incredible food meets heartfelt gratitude for America’s workers, service members, and first responders.
The moment you step through the door, you’re greeted by the warmth of the staff, who exude genuine kindness and enthusiasm. The atmosphere is electric yet comforting, with the walls adorned in a stunning tribute to American heroes—patches from service workers and first responders across the country tell a story of unity, respect, and appreciation. It’s a visual celebration of the hardworking people who make America great, regardless of background.
But let’s talk about the food, because this is where American Heroes & Brew truly shines. Every dish is inspired by cities across America, reflecting the diverse culinary landscape of the country. We had the pleasure of trying the Philly Billy and the Manhattan Original, and let me tell you—they are game changers.
Philly Billy ($24) This isn’t just a cheesesteak; it’s a love letter to Philadelphia’s iconic sandwich. Tender ribeye beef, oozing double cheese (a heavenly combination of provolone and their signature AHB Whiz), grilled onions, mushrooms, and sautéed cherry peppers combine into a flavor explosion. Each bite is perfectly balanced—savory, cheesy, and just the right amount of spicy. Served alongside a generous portion of crispy fries, this dish is worth every penny.
Manhattan Original ($21) The Manhattan Original is a pastrami lover’s dream. The succulent pastrami is complemented by tangy pickles and a bold dark ale ground mustard, all sandwiched between slices of fresh rye bread. It’s simple, classic, and absolutely unforgettable—a true homage to New York deli culture.
Beyond the exceptional food, the location is unbeatable. Being so close to the beach, it’s the perfect spot to grab a satisfying meal after a day of soaking up the sun. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, the vibrant energy of Carlsbad Village and the warm, patriotic vibe of American Heroes & Brew will make you feel right at home.
Billy and Dale’s dedication to their craft and their community is evident in every detail, from the thoughtfully curated menu to the way they “pay it forward” by celebrating America’s workers. American Heroes & Brew isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a heartfelt experience that nourishes both the stomach and the soul.
If you’re looking for top-tier food, a fantastic location, and a chance to connect with the spirit of America, look no further. This is more than a meal; it’s a memory waiting to be made. Do yourself a favor and visit—you’ll leave with a full belly and an even...
Read moreI have to say, this was a pleasant surprise. I went in search of a cheese steak. Normally, I'd go to one of the spots closer to where I live in Oceanside, but I thought I'd venture a little farther from home. I'm glad I did. Before I review this place, I want to add that i just moved to CA (5 yrs ago) from the east coast. My wife and I would make regular pilgrimages to Philadelphia and do cheese steak tours. We'd hit all of the popular and local-recommended spots. I have not found the same quality here in CA (I'm not saying that there aren't great places to have cheese steaks here, but Philly is king). When I walked into the place today, it was packed (Of course it was in the middle of the day on NFL-Sunday). After my experience today, I'd wager it would have been packed regardless. A nice gentleman at the bar (I gathered that he had some affiliation with the bar) helped me find a seat at the bar. So, this goes to the first part of my review. The staff at the restaurant was amazing. Everyone was incredibly personable and friendly. I felt like a regular even though it was the first time I'd set foot in the place. That alone would have guaranteed my return. Then I met Billy(I'm assuming some Managerial/Owner-type relationship). I come to find out that Billy was from the East Coast. More specifically, he was from Philly. Chatting with Billy I told him about my search for the elusive Philly-style Cheese steak. He assured me that I'd come to the right place and that he was trying to bring Authentic cheese steaks to Carlsbad.. In short he was successful. The cheese steak that I had was the authentic version with cheese wiz and peppers. It was one of the best I've ever had. The break was the perfect texture. The beef was perfectly cooked. I'd only intended to eat half, but I ate the whole thing. This place is now number one on my list of places to go for a good cheese steak. I can't wait to go back and try other items on their menu. It all...
Read moreNice place to catch a game (lots of TVs) and the staff is plenty attentive, also the chef is amazingly fast at preparing the food and the taste is spot on.
We got the Philly cheese steak sandwich and a spinach tortilla wrapped Pasadena burger. Both were great. The Philly cheese paid plenty of homage to Philadelphia. The meat was shaved and very tasty. With the marinara sauce it was like eating at Dalessandro's Steaks in Roxborough. The hamburger served as a burrito came pressed so that it held it's shape as a bit of a saucer and had nice crispy texture to the wrap. It also held up against the juices from the hamburger itself.
Okay, this place is about sandwiches. I get it. But it should advertise the coleslaw on the menu in the sides section and should have a few other options just to spice things up like buffalo wings and perhaps stuffed potato skins. When you are showing NFL games, MLB, NHL, NBA, etc you should have options so that your food doesn't get boring.
They have a nice selection of craft beers. They could use having Michelob Ultra and perhaps Truly or Whiteclaw. A big bonus would be to add Sola Sweet carb friendly buns and bread. It can be frozen and quickly thawed/toasted so no spoilage. As a bare minimum, less...
