Boar Cross'n — Restaurant in Carlsbad

Sorry for the lengthy review but I think this needs to said. I’ve been to this bar for a few years now. The atmosphere is nice. This is one of the few bars in Carlsbad with pool tables which is why my friends and I used to come here. Most of the staff are good too. But the service from the bartender named "Sunshine" , an older lady with blonde hair, is atrocious. The first few times we came thought we caught her on a bad night but now I know this is normal behavior.

Sunshine refuses to smile on the job, actually she seems to glare at patrons. When ordering drinks we usually have to repeat ourselves multiple times and she often still messes up the order. She's mis charged me multiple times and sometimes gives me another persons bill and is confrontational when I explain the mix up to her. She's probably the stingiest bartender in all of Carlsbad too, so much so that I only ever order beers when she's working to avoid the overpriced watered-down mixed drinks she makes. My friends and I try our best not to order from her because she takes forever to come back for another round, one time I spent 20 minutes trying to get my check for the night.

Probably the worst of all though is her attitude. I don't want to characterize her as a person, she could be nice and friendly outside of work, but on the job she is insufferable. Impatient, confrontational, and overall just uncomfortable to be around - so much so people I know often turn around and leave the bar if they see her working!

It's really a bummer too because most of the staff there are nice and the pool tables are awesome, but her presence makes going there not worth it, especially since the staff at other bars in the area are so nice and and friendly. Management if your reading this please consider finding another bartender, many people have told me she's the reason they don't go to...

WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE. Come here if you want to be treated like garbage. I just moved here a few weeks ago and my friends from out of state came to visit me. I am 22, my friends are both 21 about to turn 22, and the bartender wouldn’t take our ID’s. These are REAL state issues Washington driver’s licenses. The bartender took my license and looked over it for 5 minutes, almost snapping it in half at one point. He shook his head and said he wouldn’t serve us because he thought ours were fake. One of my friends even had her passport and he still wouldn’t serve us. At this point I was so upset and on the verge of tears that I told my friend “let’s just go, I don’t want to be here”. The bartender heard that and yelled at us in front of anyone “You don’t wanna be here? Then leave!” We were absolutely humiliated and he almost didn’t give our ID’s back. Crazy how I’m a 22 year old with a full LEGAL ID and this dude still wouldn’t serve me a drink simply because of my looks. GHETTO BAR

First I want to start of with this why does a dive bar have a cover charge? I'm an out of Townes who came down for a friends birthday and we decided to do the Carlsbad bar crawl hitting up all the bars in the Carlsbad village. I'm so disgusted at the atmosphere of this bar and they hire these children to be bouncers. I came back to the bar at 12:30am after paying to get into this bar was told I couldn't return because the bar was closing. I think this is poor service and this will not be the last of my complaint I will be calling to speak with the manager because I feel discriminated against. I and my friend were the only two the bouncer didn't let in but let the rest of our group in and tried to tell us they worked there and that's why they could go back in. No one in our group works at this bar. If I could give it a zero star I would. I'm so disappointed by the service and being I live in the city that never sleeps I have never been treated this way.
