The Roosevelt Pizzeria — Restaurant in Carlsbad

I was a takeout customer always enjoying the gluten free pizza and amazing beet salad dish until recently. Dined here for a post memorial service meal as a group of 10. I have so much appreciation for how the owner helped me set this up and make good menu choices while I was dealing with my grief from a tragic loss. She gave me confidence that they would handle it all and make it special and that gave me so much comfort.

We ordered pizzas, beet salads, house made potato chips (avail Wed only I believe) meatballs, olives & wine. Tracy helped navigate the gluten free, dairy and vegan issues too. The food was great and all enjoyed it.

We sat outside and were provided a nice area to feel like we had some space from other diners. Their flexibility for us to stay as long as needed was so kind as they said they would not kick us out even if kitchen was closing.

I walked to this place over the Labor Day weekend. Ordered a pizza to-go and was told 30 minutes. I checked at 30 minutes and was told another 10-15 minutes. Checked again after 15 minutes and still wasn't ready. One hour after my pizza was ordered it was ready. Did they offer a fountain drink or even tap water while I waited in near 90F temperatures? No. I paid $3 extra for pepperoni added and it was less than 15 pieces on a pizza much smaller than typical larges (don't less the price fool you, these are what I would call enough for a single adult-not a typical large size). I thought about eating in but it was so loud in the restaurant that my ears hurt so I just waited outside. Pizza was nothing special - I would recommend any of the other local places...

Worst service I've ever had in a restaurant. Incompetent and unapologetic server. We had to get our own menus, the drinks took forever, salad ages. Then they brought us the wrong calzone and it took 30 minutes to bring us a new one (& the crust was pretty awful, don't bother). Then they brought our pizza and said, "well, you have everything," and I had to inform her, no, we were still missing our sides, and she told us we had received it (nope), so I told her to just to cancel it.

The food wasn't that great, the server hid in the kitchen the whole time so we couldn't even find out what was going on (we were so close to just tossing $ on the table and leaving). $70 for eh food and awful service....
