Zul Rooftop — Restaurant in Carolina

Perched atop Casa Costera Apartments in Isla Verde, Zul Rooftop offers a captivating dining experience with panoramic views of the Atlantic Ocean, El Yunque, and the vibrant cityscape. The open-air setting, combined with a relaxed yet sophisticated ambiance, makes it an ideal spot for both casual outings and special occasions. 

The menu, crafted by Chef Julio Lamberty, showcases a fusion of coastal Mexican cuisine with local Puerto Rican flavors. During my visit, I indulged in the ceviche and tuna cruda. The ceviche was a refreshing medley of fresh seafood, marinated to perfection, delivering a zesty and invigorating flavor profile. The tuna cruda stood out with its delicate texture and harmonious blend of seasonings, offering a delightful melt-in-the-mouth experience. 

The burger was another highlight.

For dessert, the flan de tequila was incredibly rich. much more decadent than a traditional flan. Its creamy texture and deep caramel flavor made it a standout, almost like a custard-meets-cheesecake hybrid. Definitely a dessert worth...

They dont open till 5pm - 10pm although they want to restrict guests from eating up top. Not including the rooftop is not there’s. It’s also owned by the hotel because the pool is an amenity. The lobby gave us the all clear since we were waiting for our flight & they were not going to open anytime soon. While eating the owner supposedly lets the bartenders know we cannot eat up there even after we asked the lobby if we may & given authorization. The food as well from friends said it takes to long for what you get & extremely expensive for the service. Time frame for being open is pretty ridiculous and having such restrictions on people up stairs when food isn’t even being served is incredibly out of hand. You can tell this is a dying business as the 2-3x we went up stairs we basically saw a ghost town. People were only up there for the pool during the day mainly. A roof top bar is a roof top bar but a roof top bar in Puerto Rico…Man! Our hotel was right down the beach from Zul so we started w a romantic walk down the beach just before sunset. We got to the restaurant and took an elevator to the 9th floor where we were met with a pool a view and a very small very quaint restaurant. Probably only about 20-25 tables. The service was a little slow but the waiter was the only one working tables so we didn’t hold that against him. We ordered a couple drinks which were good, chips & guac which was tasty, and a couple taco platters which were fantastic.
