Geluna Gelato — Restaurant in Cary

Rolled up on my bike when they first opened and asked the owner who was enjoying a cone outside the store "how'd they do, - any good?"... Not knowing he was the owner of course despite his hat with their name on it - ugh. He said it was really good! All I can say is this place is a jewel and the Gelato is special. We have tried several flavors - the rhubarb was surreal it was so good. Rhubarb - I know right? We have a lot of interesting ice cream and frozen custard in Cary now and this Gelato shines through and is made & served with obvious care and pure ingredients. We've been to Geluna quite a few times since they opened. We keep going back because it's the real thing. Their gelato is made that day on-site in the equipment you can see from the counter! There aren't a million flavors to choose from because they use mostly local ingredients that are currently in-season. (They were hand squeezing lemons on one day we were there.) The texture of the cream gelatos are silky but dense, not gritty or icy. And no food coloring, or excess sugar in sight. We love the dark chocolate sorbet. Best gelato I’ve ever had and my husband agrees! Stumbled upon this gem from an instagram video and I’m so happy I did!!! I’ve been on the lookout for good creamy gelato ever since I had it from amazing place in San Francisco. Other places I’ve tried in NC have been too icy.
