This particular experience at the location near Park Meadows Mall, was a less than favorable visit. I have always been a long time fan of Wahoo's fish taco. However this visit went down on the service scale for me. I walked in and went to order. Everytime I have ordered this particular dish the staff/cooks have gotten it wrong. I haven't given much mind to it since I love the food at any location. I have attempeted 4 times to get a SCREAMIN' Burrito, but add in fajitas, and black beans. Not that hard right!? So the guy I was with hadn't had Wahoos before and was also considering a burrito. The counter guy said, "Oh man, you can add whatever you want to the burrito's if its listed in another burrito!" So of course I order for my 5th time now, a Scremin burrito with added fajita, and black beans smother in green! The kid calls over the manager and asks how to add the fajitas and beans; at which point the manager asked me, "it's going to be extra for fajitas, is that ok?" In disbelief I shake my head, "no" while saying, "Yah man, that's fine".. However, the manager didn't charge me to add the black beans??? Now confused - because the counter kid confidently told me I can add whatever to any burrito as long as it was a listed in ingredient in the burriots, I order my friend and I's meals, added two margaritas, and proceeded to hand over my Wahoos loyalty punch card. My punch card at this time is only one punch away from a free entree. The kid punchess the card, picks up a second card, punches it, and hands it to me saying, " Your total today is $38.62..". dumbfounded I ask, "did you not apply the free entree with my loyalty punch? I Should only be one away.. I don't need another card if you are using the free one right"? The counter clerk says, "you cannot use the card for you transaction because both meals where purchased this time". Now frustrated, because I have now been told I can mix and match burrito ingredients, yet have been charged extra for fajita's, but not black beans. And then when I have always used loyalty punch cards like this. Was denied the ability to apply the free entree, I almost walked away from the counter. This is my mind is horrible customer service, and lack of training.
How is the cashier going to te me one thing then be contradicted by the manager who is now charging me extra? Let's be real, Wahoo's is great food but it isn't a diamond in the rough either. There is nothing special about their fajita mix, in fact Chipotle's is probably the same mix and seasoning! Also I didnt not like the fact that I have always used my Loyalty cards the same way, as this visit when I am eating with two plus people. Yet I am told I cannot apply it that way. I was shocked to say the least. At least I finally received the burrito...
Read moreI graduated from high school in Huntington Beach, CA and used to grab delicious fish tacos at the Wahoo's in downtown HB regularly- I was extremely surprised to come across them in any other place and had to take advantage. Sadly, though, i was disappointed overall. I ordered a to-go order that was supposed to be ready at 6:05pm- I arrived at 6:01pm and it was already sitting on a shelf by the front door. When I got it back about 10 minutes later, everything was lukewarm, like how the breakfast tacos I sometimes have ordered for my staff were after I ate a couple of leftovers that had been out an hour or two. They should really find a way to keep to go orders warm- such as by leaving them waiting in heat or wrapping them in a way so that heat doesn't escape. This killed a lot of the experience overall, as did the fact that there was barely any kick to any of the items and that the flounder was fried (wasn't mentioned when ordering from their site). Add to this the fact that the cost was almost $25 for a burrito and two small tacos (with several fees, including a 3% one for higher wages in Colorado), and I'm not sure I'll be back, at least...
Read moreI have come here a few times and loved the tacos for which I would give a 5 star review - great ingredients, always fresh. Today I tried the chimichanga, and perhaps I should have stuck with the tacos. What little chicken there was, was a bit dry and without a lot of flavor. But mostly it was beans and rice in a pretty lifeless tortilla. It was well fried. Then smothered with surprisingly flavorless sauce and queso. Definitely NOT up to their usual standards. I will be back and stick to the tacos!
06/26/24 Update - We have been here a few times since the chimi mistake, and I am increasing my rating to 4 (really 4.5) out of 5. The tacos ARE definitely the way to go, and they are consistently good, even the fish. (Hard to do 1000 miles from the nearest ocean!) The service is always fast and efficient, and cheerful! The dining room is bright and also cheerful. It's a nice place to hang out for lunch. Value is OK, as it's not cheap, but...
