By happenstance, I ran across Bobbee O's BBQ. Friends of mine from out of town stopped bye and wanted something to eat for lunch. Specifically, BBQ with hushpuppies. That was the main criteria; besides not being from a big chain restaurant. Googling the brief parameters and closest location to me; and Bobbee O's BBQ came up in response to my query. To say that I was fortunate, would be an understatement. Extremely impressed would be much more accurate. Located right off of Statesville road, the location was perfect. Everything was handicap accessible, as was the parking. Plenty of seating was available. And the vibe was unlike most restaurants that I've visited and/or dined at. A continuous blend of blues and jazz music by all of the greatest legends in the business; both past and present. Immediately upon entering the restaurant, I was warmly greeted by a young lady named JP, as I approached the front counter to order. And it wasn't just your standard greeting, given without a second thought. It was warm, personable and genuine. For that matter, everyone that worked there seemed to be enjoying themselves. Smiling and friendly. We were even offered samples of some of the particular sides, that we hadn't ordered. As we were gathering the multiple bags with our to go orders, JP introduced me to none other than Bobbee O. A very warm and personable gentleman who was still working in his namesake restaurant. I inquired about the selection of music and commented the relaxing atmosphere he had created. That's the music that he was raised on by his older sister; that's all that she ever played. The pulled pork was very nicely done and extremely flavorful. Both of the housemade sauces, whether you chose the regular or spicy, were a fantastic compliment to the pork. I had both. The slaw, hushpuppies, mac and cheese were right there at the top of the food chain. The rib sandwich was served on Texas toast and loaded with meat, as well as being deboned. The chili cheese fries were absolutely loaded and delicious. There were a plethora of amazing looking desserts. Not a meat eater, they've got you covered as well. Vegetables galore and salads. Something for everyone. The food, the vibe and the staff members make sure that you'll enjoy yourself. All told, most assuredly and A+ experience. Read moreI ordered on 12/30/23 on DoorDash. I requested extra sauce, a pulled pork sandwich (with coleslaw and bbq sauce) and 2 large sides of beans. The DoorDash attendant did not ring the doorbell and left my food in the rain.
I understand that DoorDash doesn’t reflect the quality/values of the restaurant. However, when I called regarding my missing beans, a female answered the phone. She started to argue with me stating she packed the order herself. I offered a picture of my bag and the ring footage of the drop off. I only received a tiny bag and spent $50. She immediately changed her tune then proceeded to say someone else packed my bag (the lack of accountability was gross). She told me that I could request a refund from DoorDash. I asked if she could correct my order because the beans were for my kiddos. She just placed me on hold without explanation. She eventually returned stating she spoke to the manager and they would deliver the beans.
I then opened my bag and my order entirely was wrong. I didn’t get the extra sauce, coleslaw and my bag was so soggy the fries were wet. I immediately called back and asked them not to send the beans. You should not pay $50 for four items and all four are wrong. It takes literally two seconds to ensure the order is correct. I have really enjoyed this restaurant in the past. I do feel the employee base is subpar and would rather talk than work(before being placed on hold I could hear people joking and laughing so loud the employee couldn’t hear me. She tried to get my address and asked four times due to noise). It’s important to remember why you are at work and take pride in what you do. I recommend you go anywhere but here until the service matches the quality of food.
Of note the food is usually delicious but when getting delivery alway expect something to go wrong. This is like the fifth time. The food had me in a chokehold but I will go anywhere but here after this experience. Who lies...
Read moreI have never in life written a bad review, but the piss poor customer service that I received today was beyond unacceptable. I placed an order via DoorDash at 12:00 pm. At 1:30 when the order didn't arrive, I called the establishment. The young man that answered the phone who gave the name Maleek told me that the driver had left 20 minutes prior and to call back in 10 minutes if he still hadn't arrived. After another 30 minutes I called back and asked if he could give the driver a call for an estimated ETA, his response word for word "I'll do it when get around to it". I expressed to him that the food was not cheap and simply stating you'd contact the driver when you get around to it simply isn't acceptable. At this time I ask who his manager is and if there was contact information. He sarcastically states "Please call so they can fire me" At this point I realized he could care less about 1.the customer service he was giving 2. The negative impact it could have on the business. I didn't yell, nor criticize the poor customer service he had given. He began to ramble on and on about him not being weak and not letting people talk to him in any type of way. This was confusing as not one time did I even raise my voice at the young man. When the delivery driver arrived with the food he was extremely apologetic and although the food was very late, the service he provided made up for it. He did give me contact information for the owner, however I didn't receive a call back. I am not saying that won't happen but I haven't received one as of yet. The food was " Okay". I have no complaints there. I will say this....I don't care how great the food is, if customer service is poor you're going to lose lots of business. I do understand that good help is hard to find but this is not the way you go about things. I look forward to speaking with someone about this experience.
