Caroline’s Oyster Bar in Uptown Charlotte, a culinary gem perched like a proud seagull on the second floor of the JW Marriott. Here I was, a burger enthusiast in an oyster’s world, ready to dive into the deep sea of their menu. My target? The Brush Creek Ranch Wagyu Cheeseburger – a name that rolls off the tongue as smoothly as a fine oyster slides down the gullet. Now, let’s talk about this burger. Picture two 10oz patties of Wagyu beef, as thin as the line between genius and madness, grilled to a perfect harmony of juiciness and char. The American cheese on this beauty wasn’t just added; it was lovingly draped like a velvety cloak, melding into the patties in a warm embrace. The secret sauce? A mystery wrapped in an enigma, with just enough zing to keep you guessing – and yes, a tad more wouldn’t hurt. The bun, oh the bun! It was toasted to a golden-brown utopia, buttered as if by the hands of an angel. And the LTO (lettuce, tomato, onion, for the uninitiated)? Fresh as a morning dew. Let’s not forget the shoestring fries – these weren’t your average, limp, lifeless potato sticks. No sir, these fries were the Spartans of the potato world: crisp, valiant, and seasoned with the perfect amount of salt. They stood their ground with every bite, a crunchy rebellion against the tyranny of limp fries. The service? Impeccable. Ambri, my server, was the Sherlock Holmes of the menu, answering questions with the wisdom of a seasoned gastronome. She appeared at just the right moments, like a friendly apparition with impeccable timing. The ambiance struck a fine balance between the mystique of a dimly lit underwater cave and the warm glow of a sunlit coral reef. The booths, wrapped in leather, were as comfortable as a hug from a friendly octopus. The option to sit on a heated patio was like finding a pearl in an oyster – unexpected and delightful. The music set the mood just right, and the oyster bar was a stage for the shucking maestros. In conclusion, Caroline’s Oyster Bar delivered a cheeseburger experience that was as surprising as finding a diamond in a clamshell. It’s a place where one can satisfy not just a craving for burgers but also for oysters and other maritime delights. I’ll be back, and maybe next time, I’ll brave the oyster waters. But for now, let’s raise a glass (or a burger) to Caroline’s – where sea and land deliciously collide!

Such a great experience. As soon as I entered & was warmly greeted by both the hostess & the gorgeous fireplaces/fire features on the patio - I knew I was in for a treat. The decor is so cozy & inviting, it makes you want to stay for hours. I started with half a dozen oysters & that’s probably my only small negative note. They were delicious & ice cold but shucked a little roughly. As you can see in my photo several of them are punctured with the brown guts showing - I don’t expect this from a place with oyster bar in the name. But on to all the other wonderful food. The clam chowder is to die for. Really balanced in flavor, with tons of clam meat & chunks of delicious bacon throughout, great on a chilly night. The calamari was amongst the best I’ve ever had & I could tell it’s a point of pride for them - every piece was perfectly cooked/seasoned. Not rubbery at all. The portion is HUGE & lemon aioli is delicious. A lovely gentleman at the bar shared his brownie with me so I didn’t get a picture but it was amazing. I don’t have much of a sweet tooth & I would absolutely come back just for that dessert. The drinks are strong. The bar is full of interesting travelers staying at the adjoining hotel. The staff is lovely, accommodating & willing to offer great suggestions. 9/10 - I think I’ve found my new weeknight spot. I forgot to ask if they validate parking & ended up paying $26 to park in the garage - so I’ll update if I find out they do.

We had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant and will not be returning. Upon arrival, my partner was told there were no tables available, and she would have to wait for an hour and a half. However, I immediately booked a table online for the exact same time, without any wait. This was already frustrating, but things only got worse. Once seated, service was painfully slow. We waited quite a while for just a simple request like water, and when the food finally arrived, we still didn’t have plates or utensils. We had to request them twice, first for utensils and later for plates. The disorganization of the staff was evident throughout the meal. As for the food, it was underwhelming at best. The bread from the charcuterie and cheese board was drenched in oil, making it quite unpleasant. The hamburger was average—nothing special. The halibut, while cooked decently, was overly greasy as well. The food presentation and taste were not up to the standards one would expect from a restaurant with high ratings. While the location of the restaurant is excellent, the poor service and lackluster food quality do not deserve a five-star rating. At best, the overall experience is a generous 3 stars. There are better options out there.

I do not understand how this place has a 4.9 because lower rated places have better Service and food. We had a reservation for 4:15pm and got seated right away since the inside was pretty much empty. Our Waitress seemed nice but oddly enough managed for a Family of 3 (underage child) to get their drinks (mixed drinks as well) & Food before us but got there AFTER we had ordered our drinks and been waiting already. We had seen a picture of their Expresso Martini with plenty of foam, so I was excited to try but my drink must have been sitting awhile because there was no foam unlike the second I ordered which tasted better than the 1st but still looked nothing like the picture. While the Oyster Rockefeller were great I did not tasted even a hint of Bacon and the Burnt Ends we ordered weren't burnt but tasted like a tough Pot Roast. My husband liked his Burger but while my Mussels tasted very fresh the Sauce was pure Water with Mussel flavor. If it weren't for the fact that the Mussels were fresh I would have refused to eat them. With a 4.9 Star rating I was bitterly disappointed about the experience but still give 3 Stars since it's an OYSTER BAR and the freshness deserves it.

With a pleasant atmosphere, super nice employees, and fresh coastal seafood, this is our favorite of the three restaurants at the beautiful JW Marriott in Charlotte! On our recent trip, we ate here two nights and experienced the large dining room and the very comfortable outdoor patio with a fresh breeze. Stephen was especially attentive, enthusiastic, knowledgeable, and kind as he provided top-notch service and made sure the kitchen stayed open late since many customers often have delayed flights. Danielle was super nice as she kept the bar running very efficiently and kindly checked on us even though she wasn't our server. Alexis was attentive, kind, and personable as she provided service with a smile on another night when the restaurant was very busy. We thoroughly enjoyed our delicious drinks and very flavorful food that was presented artistically: Strawberry & Mint Mule, Drumheller Cabernet Sauvignon, Chowder Fries, Shrimp Cocktail, Chicken Schnitzel, and Banana Cream Pie. We will definitely dine at this restaurant again next time we are in Charlotte!
