I was with my family on Mother's Day. The food was good. We had 17 in our party, and everyone enjoyed their food. The welcome from the manager was excellent. She made you feel like you were at home. Our waitress was great. I thought she was but a few of us did not. There was a big problem occurred when time to pay. Everyone paid with their card except for my daughter. I watched her put her cash in the pouch. But the waitress came back stating only $10 was in the pouch. My daughter put $91 -- 4 20s, 2 fives and 1 dollar. Then we gave $14 tip. She immediately put the tip in her apron. She said when she opened the pouch only 2 fives were there and she came back immediately. Truly she did not. She wrong up a card transaction first and brought it back to the table and approached my daughter after she gave the pouch that belong to the card. My daughter asked her to make sure you did not drop it. She was not accusing her but the waitress got very upset and walked away crying. Even to the point she got her belongings and walked out. The manager was awesome. My daughter paid again to make matters better and the manager wanted to give her the money back. We even saw the waitress in the parking lot smoking a cigarette. My daughter went over to her and told her it was okay. All I wanted you to check to make sure you did not dropped the money. She never did instead she got upset. I have a great daughter and is very honest. She lives in Atlanta and deal with the public all day. Even when some family wanted to bash the waitress she did not. She just wanted to get it straight. I am upset because I watched her put the money in the pouch and gave her the tip in her hands. The waitress said the tip was $10 but it was $14. Very disappointed today due to the situation. The food was very good and the manager was awesome. I will come back but will pay with a card. If not the waitress will know how much cash in the pouch especially the waitress we had today. Never went through this before. We go out to plenty restaurants everywhere. The way the waitress acted it can come across guilty. You do not carry on like that in your work field. You handle the situation. She even blurred out you do not believe me. There were two people saying different things so it was if you do not believe me then I am pissed. And she showed that. My daughter did not get upset. She wanted her to check and make sure the money did not come out. My advice to her and the restaurant is to check pouches before leaving the table. Most people pay with a card but some may pay with cash. Do not get angry. Resolve the situation. We all...
Read moreThe old school dining experience that I haven’t had in years was provided by Freshwaters this past weekend. My parents and I decided to stop in for a late lunch because we really wanted some fresh seafood and it popped up on Google when we searched the area. It turned out to be a great decision! When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and our temperature was taken before we were taken to our table. The table had been set and glasses of cold water where already waiting for us. Ms.Freshwater herself welcomed us to her establishment and told us all about their offerings. She was the epitome of class and takes very obvious pride in providing an excellent dining experience for her guests. Our order was taken shortly after by a lovely young lady. A few minutes after that, a member of the kitchen staff came out to serve our beautiful plates of food. The expression of “hot and fresh” is well represented. The food was so hot, we had to wait a minute before digging in. When was the last time a restaurant served your food so quickly after hitting the plate that it was that hot??? Amazing! We ordered the Salmon Cakes as appetizers and the St Louis Ribs, Phyllis Seafood Platter (grilled) and the Fried Catfish as the entrees. Everything was delicious. All of the seafood was fresh, seasoned and well prepared. The staff was attentive and we left very satisfied. They had a delicious looking cake on display (which it is my understanding that even the desserts are made in house), but we were too full to try. The environment of this establishment is one of decorum. They have a sign that states “proper attire required” at the door. I was a little worried that I was underdressed but they seated us and treated us very well. They are located in a small strip that has its own parking. I suggest calling ahead to double check hours and availability. While we were seated right away, there was a long line out the door by the...
Read moreA long-time friend and I went to Freshwaters this past Sunday because I support black businesses as much as possible when I go out of town and we were in town for a comedy show. My friend and I notice a few celebrities in pictures with the staff of the restaurant which was nice at the entryway. We arrived around 4:00 in the afternoon. We waited for a little over 10 minutes until we were sat down. I'm unsure if the heat at the entrance was because of the door opening and closing or the air wasn't on. The waiting area at the entrance was tight so after a couple of more customers stepped in it was cramped. After the older lady realized multiple customers were waiting we were taken back to our seats. There was water waiting for us at the table in nice glasses and we were seated by the only waitress, a young female. We were given our menu and we looked for options to eat. My friend and I each ordered some greens (she had string beans and I had collard greens) and mac and cheese with a slice of sweet potato pie. I wanted to try the salmon cakes for an appetizer but from my understanding appetizers were not available. We were given cornbread while we waited on our food and it didn't seem like our food didn't take long to arrive to the table which was nice. I want to first start off saying that my Mom and Grandma set the bar high when it comes to southern cooking. I ate most if not all of my food only because I don't believe in wasting food, plus I was hungry. My friend however did not eat all of her food and blamed it on her being stuffed when the waitress stopped to check on us. We did not enjoy the sides and I could only imagine the feeling if we would've ordered entrees and they weren't good. Freshwaters is rated well and we trusted that, but unfortunately it didn't work out for us this go round. The people around us seemed kind while we sat to eat and chat, minus the side conversations we overheard...
