As an ice cream connoisseur and someone that loves to share my favorite spots on social media to help support businesses, I was very disappointed that I was not able to do so on the evening we visited Ninety’s Dessert Bar. We were visiting Charlotte and this spot was on my list to try and hopefully add to a blog about my great experience. We drove almost an hour and arrived 20 mins before the doors were scheduled to close. After standing in a 12 minute line we reached the counter without any smiles or a friendly hello. Just a girl staring at us. I told her I would like a strawberry shake and she told me they weren’t making them anymore because they were closing in 2 min and they have to clean the blenders (it was 9:21 at this time, not 9:28). She told me they were only serving scoops of ice cream. I told her we had been standing in line inside the building before 9:10, drove an hour to get their milkshake and enjoy a dessert. I told her that was unfair to people to stop serving an item that they are known for, before closing time. I told her this is a bad review for their business and she went and talked to a young man and came back and said “he told me to tell you that’s fine”. I told her that it was very disappointing, all around, in the service tonight. The three of us left without getting anything but a bad taste for this business. I have never been to an ice cream and milkshake shop that doesn’t serve their customers milkshakes because they are “almost closing”. If your customers are in the building and in line before closing time they should be served every item on the menu, unless it’s sold out. Cleaning time is for when the customers have all been served. I’m very disappointed I couldn’t rate you on the ice cream, so the 1 star is on the customer service, which is a huge part of continuing to have a successful business. Looking back at other 1 star reviews I see this poor customer service has been an issue that never was addressed, so it tells me that the management or owner just doesn’t really care to provide great service to...
Read moreThe food was easily a 5 out of 5. The service I received was a negative 3. I don't know the woman's name because I don't think any of them were wearing name tags, but she was blonde and prob like 5' 5". Anyways I guess she must have been the shift manager - refused a very simple request that we even offered to pay for.
This may seem like an overly extensive review, but I thought the customer was always right? Don't get me wrong I work in food and beverage and I get it. Especially when people have ludicrous requests.
Here goes. I take my girl to this ice cream shop after stalking their Instagram for months. And I'm talking months. She wants this unicorn ice cream thing that's a new release flavor. Well when we get their she realizes it's a milkshake and not a cone. Not a huge deal. So this guy starts taking her order (who knows what his name is because they don't wear name tags) and she asks him can I have the unicorn ice cream but instead on a cone instead of a milkshake. He says sure no problem at all we will be happy to do that for you. Back to the blonde girl now. She literally is watching the whole time and not saying anything. We are all standing with in a few feet of each other. Just imagine ordering ice cream. Everyone is really close. She waits till the guy has scooped her ice cream then put her toppings on to then cut in the conversation and say sorry we can't put the little unicorn ears on the ice cream cone and we would have to order the milkshake if we wanted them. SO NOW WE ARE STUCK WITH THIS STUPID LOOKING ICE CREAM CONE THAT MY GIRL DOESNT WANT ANYMORE BECAUSE SHE CANT HAVE THESE STUPID UNICORN EARS.
We said we would pay for them or whatever we needed to do and the woman that just ruined my day because she ruined my girl's day JUST PRETENDS NOW THAT SHE CANT HEAR US. We are all still standing 3feet from each other.
Why could you have not just been an adult and faced the confrontation. Or better yet spoken up at the very beginning.
TL;DR Really frustrating customer service, really...
Read moreAbout half an hour ago, we arrived to the store around 9.45 pm. There was a long line and we were the last in line. We waited in line for almost 10 minutes before one of the workers yelled out that they are closed and won’t be serving anyone standing behind the man with the red hat.
We were upset about this because the door was not locked and we entered before closing time and we were already in line for a few minutes before she made this announcement. So we remained in line until it was our turn.
When we reach the counter, we had a discussion with the three staff standing near the register. The young woman (Caucasian with dark hair) - a staff member - tried to tell us that we can’t place our orders but I told her that we arrived 10 minutes before closing, and we didn’t hear the announcement about the guy in the red hat until about 10 minutes later. Finally, the nice staff member named Eric agreed to take our orders. Which was the right thing to do.
Sadly, after Eric kindly took our orders, the other two female staff members berated him loudly and insulted him in front of all waiting customers. It was very awkward for everyone in the store. Simply because he took everyone’s order who arrived before the 10 pm closing.
Eric did the right thing. He didn’t deserve to be yelled at by the other two staff. It seemed like there was no management at the store.
Overall, we had a horrible customer experience, even though Erik did the right thing. Please explain to all staff that every customer should be served if they arrive before closing time. And if they don’t want customers to come in, they should...
