Ankar's Downtown — Restaurant in Chattanooga

Unfortunately I'm updating my review and reducing the rating. After years of coming here, there have been a few changes that have soiled our experiences.

1. The crispy fries have now changed and just aren't that good.
2. $6.50 with tax for a cheeseburger that's about 1/4" thick just isn't worth it when there is the Innside Restaurant just a few blocks away that offers thick burgers that are fresh beef for less cost...
3. Today the chicken tenders tasted more like fish than chicken... I assume they got tainted by cooking with shrimp or something but they tasted awful and we had to order something different.

It's honestly a shame because the owners are good people that have been there for many years but my concern is that by cutting portions or quality to maximize profit, they'll lose patrons. I hope these comments are read and considered.

Had a really nice lunch at this quaint sandwich shop. We had ham sandwiches on a sub roll. These are just simple sandwiches made very well, the portions were generous, the vegetables were fresh and we really enjoyed them. The onion rings were a little under done for one of us but the other one really enjoyed them but could understand why the other felt they could have used some more time in the fryer. This jewel is tucked away on Broad Street between 5th & 6th and I’m so glad I stumbled across it. Fresh and house made are the two words that come to mind. The falafel and the onion rings, oh my gosh. If there was such a thing as a onion ring that’s too big, these would be them, but of course there’s no such thing as a onion ring that’s too big.
