I literally was NOT going to pay for anything at this restaurant at first because I wasn't really feeling the food overall based on the photos of it on here.My mom is my witness. She told me that my sister paid for the reservation on my behalf too and that's the only reason I changed my mind about NOT showing up for this restaurant today.Anyway,I finally ordered my first "medium well" cooked steak aka a Filet Mignon (Butterfly Style). My sister told me about this "Butterfly Style" version and convinced me to get it because it is more thoroughly cooked as a result for a "medium well" choice.NO sides comes with the steaks and seafood choices on the menu at all very strangely, period.Plus, all of the steak and seafood choices are extremely expensive too.I didn't order any sides and their sides are literally the most expensive or some of the most expensive I have ever seen in a gourmet restaurant to date, period. My steak turned out to be mediocre at best because it was NOT well seasoned unfortunately. It was definitely tender though.I didn't get any "Truffle Butter" on top of my "Filet Mignon" like my nephew's girlfriend did for hers, but she graciously shared some of hers with me to put on top of mine.Needless to say,it tasted better with it versus without it on my steak.I think my nephew ordered the macaroni and cheese with Truffle topping with his Teriyaki Salmon order and his mom ordered the corn with some type of ingredient seasoning or seasonings mixed in with it with her "Surf & Turf" order. Both of these bigger than usual portions for sides were shared with me and in my opinion these sides were actually better than my "Filet Mignon",period.Even my "Non-Alcoholic" Blackberry Cocktail drink I had already ordered and consumed was better than my steak, period. However,I am officially converted now to only ordering and eating "medium well" cooked steaks for now on though.I told everybody that was with me in this restaurant today that I can get used to this "medium well" cooked steaks thing. My sister told me a long time ago that "medium well" cooked steaks is the best way to eat steaks but I didn't listen to her unfortunately until today finally. That's Right! NO more "well done" cooked steaks for me baby ever again. My mom also ordered their "Surf & Turf" entree from their "Brunch" menu, but she didn't like it though.I forgot the actual reason she said for why she didn't finish eating her order.I think my sister liked her "Surf & Turf" order though. My niece ordered their "French Onion" soup and she said she like it but it was too salty. She also had a "Sushi Roll" or sushi and rice with lobster order with her soup and she ate all of it.She also ordered their "Arnold Palmer" drink with ice and it looked really good to me.I think my nephew's girlfriend liked her "Filet Mignon" more than I liked mine because she definitely ate all of it.My mom ordered a Mimosa cocktail that looked good and I think she liked it.I only saw cushioned and round circular bench seating tables and brighter than usual dim lighting interior and atmospheric wise.Their background music was tunes I don't like, but very fortunately the volume level was NOT grating at all and I really appreciate that.Their restroom was very dim lighting wise, but seemed to be more decent or cleaner than usual. The waitress we had was fair enough.I am kind of curious about what their whipped mashed potatoes side order is like.Do they have a savory and rich or thick brown gravy or any thick gravy that I can get with that????? I forgot about the fact that my sister ordered their "Cinnamon Bread" twice that comes with a cream cheese topping if you choose to pour it on there yourself or allow an employee to do it for you.I don't like cream cheese and my nephew's girlfriend said she don't like it either. It is decent enough without cream cheese on it,but I only ate very little of it though.I think everybody else that was with me that tried it liked it.This appetizer was better than my steak taste wise despite the fact that I did eat all of it.TOO Expensive and...
Read moreOur recent visit to Ocean Prime was made exceptional by our server, Andrew. His knowledge of the menu, attentive service, and engaging conversation set the tone for a wonderful evening.
As soon as we were seated, Andrew introduced us to the evening's offerings and recommended some standout dishes. He started us off with a delightful popcorn appetizer seasoned with truffle and herbs, which was a unique and delicious start to our meal.
For the appetizers, Andrew suggested the goat cheese ravioli, which turned out to be absolutely divine. The creamy goat cheese filling, paired with a lemony sauce and mushrooms, created a memorable starter. The shrimp cocktail was not only fresh but also impressively presented, adding a touch of elegance to the meal. Another pleasant surprise was the calamari, served with a sweet chili sauce. This unexpected combination elevated the dish, making the calamari tender and flavorful rather than the usual rubbery texture found elsewhere.
Andrew also recommended the lobster bisque, which we decided to split. The bisque was rich and creamy, with juicy, tender pieces of lobster that made each spoonful delightful.
For the main course, I ventured to try the snapper for the first time, another of Andrew's excellent recommendations. The fish was cooked to perfection, with a crispy exterior and moist, flavorful meat inside. The accompanying sides of creamed spinach and jalapeño au gratin, which we ordered as half portions thanks to Andrew's suggestion, were delicious complements to the dish, rounding out a satisfying and well-balanced meal.
No meal is complete without dessert, and Ocean Prime did not disappoint. The peanut butter chocolate dessert was simply the best I have ever had. The rich chocolate paired with the creamy peanut butter was a heavenly combination that left a lasting impression.
Throughout the evening, Andrew's attentive and friendly service ensured we had a seamless dining experience. His ability to recommend dishes that perfectly suited our tastes was impressive and greatly appreciated. The thoughtful suggestion to split the soup and order half portions of the sides allowed us to enjoy a variety of flavors without feeling overwhelmed.
Overall, Ocean Prime provided an exquisite dining experience with outstanding food, impeccable service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere. I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a...
Read moreThis past weekend I took my lady to Chicago to celebrate her birthday. My best friend from Texas flew in with his fiancé so we all could have a wonderful time together. We had reservations at one place but after talking to my friends they thought it would be wise to try a different place and Ocean Pime kept popping up as one of the best restaurants in the area. Since we were about 75 ft away from the Restaurant and our hotel we got dress on venture to Ocean prime restaurant for the birthday dinner. I have been to many fine dining restaurants including exquisite steak houses. Ocean prime takes the cake! First, When you walk into Ocean prime you know that you are in a elegant place to dine. The ambient lighting, along with the Decour says a lot about this establishment. Our drinks arrived without hesitation along with a few appetizers that we wanted to try. After I taste the truffle ravioli I knew that we were in for a fantastic night of dining! When the Main course arrived it was so beautiful I really did not want to eat the works of art! It consisted of chilean Seabass which excited my taste buds with a wonderful flavor. The birthday girl had the Salmon which made her happy because it was prepared with detailed care.Red snapper and steak were divinely devoured by my friends from Texas. They loved it! After moments of fulfillment, it was time for dessert. Now fine dining is one thing, but desserts are my special interest food! I ordered the carrot cake to go because I wanted to still breathe normally when leaving the restaurant.(stuffed). After my dessert, the birthday girl received an exquisite looking birthday dish which was a butter cake topped with whip ice cream. Though she’s not the dessert type, she basted in the moment and X pressed her happiness. After she tasted the butter cream cake, she couldn’t stop.(lol). After several pictures were taken, we finally left the restaurant filled with glee! Our service was stupendous to say the least! There are hundreds if not thousands of places to dine in Chicago. We should know we come here every 3 to 4 months or so. If you haven’t ventured into the Ocean Prime restaurant then you have not encountered fine dining at its best. Please note that it is slightly expensive. However I couldn’t put a price on my lady’s beautiful smile. She was worth...
