The service was unbelievably slow with normal bar food and drinks. Started at the upstairs bar then booked a table to for the the downstairs speakeasy, which they got the # of people wrong, so when they called us they didn't have enough seating. Which I would've chaulked up to an honest mistake, but it was more a pattern rudness which earned this bad review.

After they gave our table away ( since they didn't get the number right), we waited for another table. After finally being called down. We ordered drinks. Our first round of drinks came in a relatively timely manner(slow compared to other speakeasys). However when I ordered another drink i waited 30 minutes for him to get back and ask us if again if we wanted to order drinks, I was finally able to ask about my drink and then was told they ran out of an ingredient and the drink would be out soon ( but it was clear he had forgotten, as he asked if all of us wanted more drinks).

Then I finally got my drink ( which was good) and the show started and a few people had been asked to go on stage, but declined, then I was asked and went on stage and participated. I didn't have to do anything crazy and it was enjoyable and the crowd was pleasant.

But when I got back to my seat I was enjoying my drink. The check had arrived and I obviously had not had time to finish my drink, but the hostess had already promised our table to another group and we were told we needed to leave. I explained I wanted to finish my drink and the hostess again said "well I already btold the other group the table was ready".

TL;DR waiter didn't originally enter my order then when I participated in their show and thus didn't have time to finish my drink, hostess told us our table was going to...

My partner and I visited your restaurant last night for dinner, and unfortunately, we had a very disappointing experience. I have worked in the restaurant industry for many years, so I truly understand how challenging and demanding this job can be, and I deeply respect the hard work of servers and bartenders. However, I feel that the behavior of the bartender we interacted with was unprofessional and unacceptable.

From the beginning of the evening, there were several issues. After ordering our first drink, my boyfriend asked for a second one, but the bartender gave no acknowledgment or response. The food we received was served cold, and when the second drink was finally brought to our table, the bartender placed the glass down very aggressively, hitting it against the table.

When it came time to pay, we were first given one amount on the check, and then charged a different amount, without any explanation or apology. The issue was not about the forgotten second drink, but rather the lack of communication, accountability, and courtesy. When we calmly asked about the difference in the charge, the bartender rudely argued with us, raising his voice instead of addressing the concern professionally. He showed no willingness to resolve the issue and eventually told us to leave the restaurant.

I am writing not out of anger, but because I believe in giving honest feedback in the hope that it can improve the experience for future guests. I kindly ask that the manager or owner contact me regarding this matter. I would appreciate the opportunity to...

How did I not know about this place sooner? It's a new favorite in the area, next time I'm looking for a place to have a beer in this neighborhood I'll be back. It's been here forever. My uncle, who used to live in the city long ago, used to drink here and visited it again a few weeks ago. We were having a conversation about it on Thanksgiving and I told him I'd never heard of it. A few weeks later, I get an invite for a Google+ event here. Fate!

The chicken finger things were really good. The beer selection was good, too. But the atmosphere is what made it for me. I guess it used to be a speakeasy and they sort of play up that history. I'm told the owners also own Salvage One and that's where they source the decorations, all cool old vintage items. Not like Cracker Barrel, like... something way cooler. There's a little stage downstairs and I understand they have vaudeville shows on Saturday. All around a good evening at a cool little place I'd not...

Poutine!!!! Absolutley delicious and decadent. We had two orders! The staff is very friendly and helpful. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk in, even with the whole COVID19 issue. I was pleased to see they were practicing social distancing and wether you beleive in it or not, it is nice to have the extra space to enjoy your drinks, meal and conversation. The beer is COLD, the cocktails strong and well made. Food is high quality and the menu is full of great choices. I enjoyed the history of this place which you feel as you walk up and see the sign and the woodwork. The interior feels cozy even though everyone is spaced out. This is a typical Chicago Taver that has a history as a speakeasy and you can see some of the historical artifacts as you look around and if you walk downstairs to the bathroom area. Highly recommend for Chicago visitors and locals alike.

I recently visited the Green Door Tavern in Chicago, and I have to say it was an incredible experience! The ambiance of this historic spot is cozy and inviting, perfect for a night out with friends or a casual dinner. A special shoutout to Chef Jorge, whose recommendations were spot on. Every dish was bursting with flavor, and you could tell a lot of care went into the preparation. The food was simply amazing, and I highly recommend trying the specials he suggests. Also, kudos to Louis the bartender for his extensive knowledge of drink selection. His expertise made the evening even more enjoyable, as he crafted some of the best cocktails I've ever had. If you're looking for a great place with fantastic food and drinks, the Green Door Tavern is definitely worth a visit! P.S. Highly recommended getting the Brussels Sprouts I would’ve posted a photo but we ate them to fast!
