Allez Bakery — Restaurant in Cincinnati

This is bread as art, whereas everything else seems to be dispassionate bread-as-business. Every other bread I try is rated on a 1-10 scale, but what Allez makes sits in a third dimension, maybe call it a 20, or a 10^2, there is just no comparison. I'm easily 200+ loaves deep and still this jazzed about it.

It is sourdough in its final form, end-game for any enthusiast and should be a mecca for any out-of-towner interested in this kind of thing. If there is any bread that even comes close to this I want to know about it. I eat a lot of sandwiches, and when I make one for a guest, I feel ashamed and apologize if it's not with Allez bread. Anything else is a compromise.

I just came here to grab a loaf one morning and went with the seeded sourdough. It was quite good -- great textures, good herbiness to go along with the seeds.. zero complaints. It kept pretty fresh for 4 days stored at room temperature before a noticeable drop-off, and it toasted better than most breads I've gotten from a bakery. Overall, they had a good variety of breads and were fully stocked in the morning. They also had very interesting pastries, both sweet and savory.. I'd try everything! One of my favorite places to get bread. I like the Urban and the Sunflower loaf. They are so good flavorful. The sunflower loaf has fennel on it and is a great hearty snack. I never eat all the bread in time and then get creative. I've made stuffing, bread & gravy and french toast. I advise sharing with friends. They will get hooked. Small place. Walk in and walk out.
