Nice concept and the place looks great. It's clean and the colors of the macarons are great against the white background. We took the family and were looking for an experience. It's called the Macaron Bar, which to me implies you could stay a while. Not so. They have 5 seats in the whole place. That's okay because there was no-one there. They do have a great variety, I guess. There were I believe 14 different flavors. We paid $25 for 12 macarons. We ate them and liked a couple of the flavors, but didn't love any of them. My daughter planned on buying a dozen when we got there, but after trying them she just bought 6. She only did that because her husband can't eat gluten and I guess macarons are gluten free because they're made with almond milk. We didn't have a great experience. We pretty much left with the idea that it was nice, but no reason to go back. So, the macarons are expensive. I think that's just the way it is. So I'm not knocking them on price. However, we purchased to enjoy them there and they packaged them in their lovely box for us to take and leave. Not what we were looking for. They didn't seem to have much stock so I'm guessing they didn't expect many customers. I don't know how much a lease runs for Over the Rhine, but I don't think they're going to sell enough macarons at $2.25 each to cover it. For my $25 I could get like 5 dozen assorted donuts. I'm thinking they won't be in business long. Best of...
Read moreDelicious! This cute little macaron shop is easy for slipping in and out and doesn't feel overwhelming like some bakeries can. The seasonal selection of flavors is big enough to make you crave them all and small enough to leave you hungry for the ones that will hit at other times of the year (salted caramel and strawberry milkshake are current faves). These are colorful, flaky, delicate and sweet like true macarons should be, giving you a teensy bit of Paris here in Hyde Park. What a fantastic endeavor founded by...
Read moreWE MADE MACARONS! I've enjoyed their macarons for a long time. Yesterday, I had an opportunity to learn the basics of making this sweet little cookie. My grandson and I took a class at the Downtown location. A Macaron Master taught us a lot of nifty skills. We followed her step by step and ended up taking home about two dozen macrons.
Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The class was fun, interesting, and far different from other baking classes I've taken. I enjoyed it and recommend it to all the adventurous...
