We went here just for a quick dinner, and there was almost no one. Just one couple eating sandwiches. I double checked the hours, and it said open until 8 pm. It was 4pm, we wondered around looking at the menus. Due to having celiac disease I was trying to find anything I could have that doesn't have gluten and I found basically nothing. I tried to find allergy information for any of the restaurants and could not find anything. I figured my safest bet were some fries from the burger place. I stood there at the counter, the place looked open, there was no signage or anything online saying it was closed, and even the touchscreen to tip was on and ready to go. Waited there for about 10 minutes until a woman who was cleaning up tables said "that one's not open" I asked if any of them were, she said "I'm not sure you'll have to check" we discovered the Asian restaurant was open (Yay! Food). I asked the worker there if he knew if the ramen noodles were wheat or rice noodles, he said "it is a soup" he had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Which, that's understandable, but it's extremely frustrating when there is no allergy information anywhere whatsoever. I don't know what I am eating. I end up getting the Korean BBQ wings, which were delicious BUT after one wing I could tell they had gluten. A ton of fried breading, which again was delicious, but ultimately my night was ruined. No signage, invisible staff, no allergen information. Paid $12 for wings since it was the only place open, only to give them away because I didn't realize they...
Read moreSo, I just learned that Kroger buys food that may have pollinator killing pesticides in them. That probably includes glyphosates which have also been found to be behind cancers & even gluten & other intolerances in humans (where all of the roundup claims that are suing that products manufacturer). So, if you don’t realize how killing our pollinators can affect our future food supply, recognize the more direct relationship to our health & stop being a part of what is ruining our food supply & making some like myself, consider growing our own because we can’t trust the markets that supply our food (which will be a challenge for everyone if we have to pollinate our crops manually & not naturally with pollinators). I already buy organic from Kroger, which I hope I can trust their organic produce is free from those chemicals, but if I can grow my own produce naturally without the chemicals, why can’t a large producer & chain of providers do the same? I like Kroger for the most part, the store has variety for everyone, but can’t you have boundaries on providing things that might be posing a risk to unaware populations & the future of our food supply? Your business may be affected ultimately. I am starting to question if I will buy ANY produce from Kroger now that I have been informed that they are selling product that I may not be able to trust & I would think this bad press is not good for...
Read more"Upscale food court" is the best description of this eatery above the downtown Kroger on the Rhine. This was my second visit to grab a healthy meal and was not disappointed with the 1883 Cafe. Other choices included a burger place and noodle place, a few others that I can't remember. It's the fresh greens that attracted me to this stall. I was hungry and got the delicious hot Mac 'n Cheese to eat right away. It was a generous serving and ended up taking half back to the hotel. The crunchy onions were a perfect topping. But the Power Salad is the best! The full size is a meal in itself. Fresh and roasted ingredients, a light and flavorful dressing - this is my go-to salad!...
