I really enjoyed the atmosphere of this location. However, the food was underwhelming.
I ordered a Bleu cheese wedge salad to start. The description was intriguing as it included crispy onions (not typically found on al this kind of salad). The onions were delightful, but the salad was served with vinegar (?!?) as well as Bleu cheese dressing. Presentation of the salad was wonderful. Truly, everything about it looked perfect, but there was just way too much vinegar on it. The acidity of the vinegar cut through every other part of the salad.
The entree I ordered was the lemon chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly, and succotash was nice, and the potato wedges were piping hot and crispy. Again, lots of elements of the dish done really well, but there must've been the equivalent of at least 1/2 a stick of butter at the bottom of the plate. All this butter made the dish too rich and left me feeling like I needed more salt to cut through the fat and add some flavor. Additionally, the pea succotash was nice, but combined with the potatoes, it just absorbed too much butter with each forkful.
Unfortunate... Lots of aspects of the meal were done really, really well, but there was always something that ruined it. I would give this place another chance, but based on my initial experience, I can't rate it any higher...
Read moreThe food was very good. Nice atmosphere. Unfortunately the service, or should I say lack of, was absolutely terrible. We ordered an appetizer. As soon as we received it we noticed it contained something my husband cannot eat. We called our waiter Tyler over immediately and explained the situation. His response was basically “that’s what you ordered” … Sorry! No attempt whatsoever to try and rectify the situation. Just walked away from us. Honestly, we were quite shocked. I’ve never experienced that before. My husband went over to the hostess and asked to speak with the manager. She looked at him and said “there isn’t one on site”. Upon leaving the restaurant we again went over to the hostess and asked how it was possible to not have a manger or “person in charge” on site. She glared at us and said “well the blonde girl over there is in charge tonight “. We asked why she didn’t say that when we asked previously and why she didn’t send her over when we asked and she UNBELIEVABLY replied “well we had other things to take care of”! Management really needs to get involved and teach their employees about customer service. It really is a shame because the food was good but the experience was horrible. Don’t think I’d return and would not recommend to others when there are so many other dining options...
Read moreMarch 25th, 2018. My wife and I decided to go to Max London's for brunch. The wait was estimated at 40 minutes but we were called within 12 minutes( big plus ). Our waiter took our drink order ( 2 coffees and 2 Bloody Mary's ) while we were being accommodated( big plus ). Our drinks were presented to us almost immediately after we ordered them. Basically, we have no complaints regarding service. It was top notch. However, when our bill came, my wife and I noticed that we were charged an extra $2 for each Bloody Mary (Tito's Vodka). I tended bar for over 10 years and I would not waste top shelf vodka in a drink unless it was a vodka martini and on top of that, if it was a martini, my wife and I prefer Kettle One. It is offensive to my wife and I that the waiter assumed that he could charge us extra and we not notice it. As I stated before, I've been in the restaurant industry therefore I will never under tip a waiter therefore he got about 15% tip. Our bill was $69.96. The reservation was made under Juliana and last four of her cell are 6140. I've been going to Max's for over 4 years and the waiter was one of the best I've had the pleasure to be served from, however, the mere fact that the waiter thought that he could make an a$$ out of us, is more than enough of a reason for me to never step...
