Please understand, this review is coming from someone who frequents different coffee shops in several different cities and states. I know what a normal, good, coffee ordering and drinking experience is. Also, I don't typically leave bad reviews unless I truly feel that I need to bring something to the public and / or owner's attention. My family and I went to Black Rifle Coffee Company in Clarksville, TN around 5:30 PM on 02/05/23. Our group ordered two Americano's with a lot of half and half, one small and one large, a small coffee with two creams, and a medium blended mocha at the drive thru speaker. When we got to the window, there was a young lady working the register and a young man working behind her. The young lady handed us two large Americano's and a small coffee. She told us the amount owed, which I knew was not high enough for four drinks. I questioned her about it. The blended mocha wasn't on the order. She added it and made a comment that she doesn't know what the deal is with so many people ordering blended drinks lately. They are time consuming to make. She added the drink, adjusted the amount due, and I paid. We didn't say anything about the two large Americano's, instead of a small and large, because it simply wasn't worth messing with. We took a sip of both Americano's while the blended mocha was being made. Both of them were barely warm. We asked the young lady if they could heat them up for us. She replied that they could not. She said that when you get a lot of half and half it cools the coffee down. She suggested that next time (which there won't be a next time) we order the Americano's with the half and half on the side so we can add it ourselves. I don't know what purpose that would serve, since it is still adding cold liquid to hot coffee. I understand the cooling effect; however, I have been to more coffee shops than I can count in which I have ordered the exact same drinks and they came out hot, even with cold half and half added. Perhaps BRCC should turn up the temp to compensate for added cold liquids. The answer to the luke warm Americano's, according to the young man, was to add hot water. He handed me a cup of hot water to pour into each of the coffees once they had been partially consumed or dumped out to make more space. We didn't really want to drink coffee that was more diluted with water, so we just drank our barely warm drinks. As all of this was unfolding, the young lady tells us that there is a regular customer who comes through and always asks for half and half in his coffee. Then, he too complains of it being too cold. The young man chimed in and said that he'd like to throw the coffee in the guy's face. If these two young people are so miserable with their jobs, then they should move on to something else. I don't need to hear comments or complaints about this or that. For $17.00 worth of drinks, I simply want them to be correct. Now, I did give a two star review because the Americano's did have a good flavor. They just weren't hot. Had those two drinks been hot, I would have left fairly satisfied, but still thinking to myself that the staff was not professional enough. Unfortunately, the next time I pass through Clarksville, I will be looking for another...
Read more*UPDATED REVIEW MUUUUUCH better this time. The place is clean, the service is amazing, the products are wonderful. All the things I hoped for in my first visit, I absolutely got this try. Well done. We will definitely be back here often to support. 😎✅10/10.
I think I will have to try again another time. I loved the atmosphere and the decor, but my customer experience was not at all great. I had never been before , and purposely drove almost 2 hours to come try this place. I ordered a sandwich (looking at the menu board) and an espresso. I was asked what size espresso…. Ok. It’s posted as 2 oz so what are my choices exactly? Anyways , after I paid , I was directed to the refrigerator area for my sandwich. When I made it over there , no sammiches. So I waited in line again to get back to say “there’s no sandwiches”- after a blank look and a moment of awkward panic, I was asked if I wanted something different (no thank you) and waited for the employee to find some help to refund the sandwich. I had no idea they didn’t make them in house or how the process worked (again, first time) so I felt kind of dumb, and frustrated by the entire experience. The coffee itself was good , the atmosphere was great , and the support for military and first responders is wonderful (although it took me 3 times asking for the young lady to repeat what she said before I got the total because she was looking at the register and mumbling what ended up being “are you active or retired military or first responder”.). Maybe I’ll try again just to support the concept , but probably not...
Read moreLove their coffee. In fact, my husband is a distributor of their product at his veteran-run business. However, the way they approach their veteran discount needs to change.
When you checkout, they ask if you’re a veteran or family member. I am the wife of a two-time combat veteran who participated in both Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. However, because I don’t have a government-issued spousal ID card to prove it, one particular bearded employee denies me the discount every time.
Let me be really clear here: I do not care about a 15% discount on a $6 cup of coffee. I care about my integrity being questioned when I’ve spent a decade of my life going through hell with a man who has been physically and emotionally damaged by war.
Why even ask? I'm happy to pay full price. To be called a liar in this situation - which is exactly what you are doing when you ask someone a question and then claim their answer is not true - is so frustrating. If anyone who reads this is veteran-associated, you know that impersonating a veteran or lying about your affiliation for any kind of advantage or profit is about the grossest thing a person can do. And here I am, an actual Army wife, being accused of exactly that. It is absolutely humiliating.
Please, just don't ask if you're not going to honor a person's response. Put up a sign advertising that you'll give a discount with an ID for those who have it,...
