Beach Shanty Cafe — Restaurant in Clearwater

This was our second time visiting this establishment. We'd like to think that in these times, we'd be treated equally. Our first experience wasn't a pleasant one. No one was outside, so my husband and I proceeded to walk in. By the time we made it to the doorway, the waitress halted us like we were trespassing and asked us to step back outside so that she could see if seats were available; they were, we could see them from the door.

Once seated we noticed others got the "friendly service" but ours was rushed and snarky. We enjoyed the food and chalked it up to a bad experience.

However, today proved true to our initial thoughts. My husband and I entered before a family of four. The other waitress, the one that was rude in our first visit, jumped on the family of four. Our waitress, joked, played around, and was very patient with her other table. It wasn't busy at all. When she finally made it to our table, the smile was gone. My husband asked about fresh squeezed orange juice & she replied, "I didn't wake up early enough to do it" in a very rude way. We noted her rudeness and continued to order. She was so rude during my husband's order that she obviously didn't hear him. I hurriedly placed my order and she walked away. She came back out after a few minutes to ask about his order cause she was so rude and rushed that she didn't get it the first time nor did she go over the order before walking away.

He told her, "yes I want my potatoes,I ordered them." I then suggested that we pay for the cokes & leave. She screamed don't pay, just go. I was like, okay so now we see, we're not wanted here. My husband finally returned her rudeness and that's when the manager rushed to our table. There was never a concern of what happened!!!

I've seen several comments of the "RUDE WAITRESSES" ... I'M NOT CERTAIN IF MY DETAILED REVIEW WILL HELP, BUT HOPEFULLY NO ONE ELSE HAS TO EXPERIENCE THIS RUDENESS MORE THAN ONCE.

ANYWAY, WE WENT TO ANOTHER BROKEN EGG & THE SERVICE...

Not Kid Friendly!!! Let me tell you about my familys experience at this cafe. So let me start by saying that this is the 1st vacation my family has had in 4 years. My wife and I brought our 2yr old to clearwater on vaca. We woke up on our 1st day there and decided to go look for a place to eat breakfast. Anyone who has kids knows how fun it is to bring a 2yr old out to eat. Our waitress was very friendly and rushed to get my daughter food to keep her occupied. But my daughter just wanted to stand by the booth. So we let her stand right beside the booth. About 5min go by and an older waitress with grey/blonde hair grabs my 2yr old daughter by the shoulders and slams her into the edge of the table. I said excuse me? She then said to me "You need to make that girl sit or shes gona get burned!!!" I was mind blown that someone would treat my beautiful daughter that way then proceed to threaten a 2yr old, OMG!!! I said to that waitress, do u want us to leave? She said, "You can leave!". So i grabbed my daughter and we were walking out. My wife was a little ways behind. The waitress then proceeds to follow me outside onto the sidewalk and say "you better be careful or that little girl is gona grow up to be just like you!!!". I have never been treated so poorly in my entire life. I was also very embarassed. You do NOT touch other peoples kids and you absolutely DO NOT hurt kids, my god. Please if you are searching for a place to eat breakfast or lunch, do not give this place...

Our actual waitress was fine. The food decent I had a problem with two older men. My friend and I went into their ONE stall bathroom my friend used the bathroom then after she finished I had to really use the bathroom(bm) so I asked her to leave. Before I did I asked was anyone waiting for the restroom she said no. Ab 2 mins maybe go by and this man comes up to my friend and asked if she was waiting for the bathroom. She told him no and that her friend, me. Was in there. Later probably like another 2 mins go by this man the older one starts YELLING “ they taking forever in there” “ “they need to hurry up” “this is a restroom not a changing room” “someone’s in the bathroom taking forever” completely bothered by me being in the bathroom. As a man why are you so worried about what a woman is doing in the women’s bathroom?? It made me so uncomfortable.. I already don’t like using the bathroom in public but I really had to go. Probably another 2 mins go by I’m finishing up ab to flush the toilet and my friend said he tried to get to the door and try to open it?! So if she wasn’t there and the door wasn’t locked he would’ve seen me exposed! Just a total invasion of privacy. As I left the restroom there was still no one waiting to get in so I was being rushed for no reason. This has to be my worst experience at a restaurant. There are many bad reviews of this place and taking about the same people....
