Just want to start off by saying I am a regular at Flippers in Clermont. The pizza is always fantastic and service is up to par. However after my experience on 1-1-2020, I will not be back . Party of 8 comes in the door, restaurant is empty, being new year's day we possibly thought they were closed. Upon entering we realized they were indeed open, we were greeted by our server who told us to take a seat wherever. We all order drinks, I am not exaggerating, being the only table in the restaurant it took us 10 min to get our drinks . I was the only person at the table that ordered a beer, she forgot my beer when drinks were brought out, no big deal people forget things. So we order our pizzas, one triple pepperoni, one sausage, and one veggie pizza. The veggie pizza we asked to sub peppers for the mushrooms on one half of the pizza . We asked multiple times to make sure the server understood what we wanted. Did not see the server again one time for about 25 minutes, mind you we are the only table in the restaurant at 8 PM. My aunt asked if the pizzas we're gonna be out soon, server tells us the pizzas take 25 min . Now, I've worked as a server/bartender since I've been out of school .I can promise you, a brick oven does not take 25 minutes to cook a pizza . However, this was no big deal, the pizza is always delicious. So she sits the pizzas down and the veggie pizza is wrong, it was a normal veggie pizza on one half and one half cheese... We reiterated multiple times when ordering what we wanted and she assured us she had it . At this point we were fine with the pizza she brought us because we were ready to eat and go home, however we did want it taken off the bill because it was incorrect .At this point she tells us, "no it will be on us, I'll get you the correct pizza in 5 min", keep in mind she just said all pizzas take 25 minutes . The server in me had to make her statement known, I asked her, you just said all pizzas take 25 min to make. Her response is, well pizzas on the fly are quicker... So the oven running at the same temp, with the same size pizza, same ingredients, is going to go from 25 min to 5 just because it's "on the fly" come on.... If that was the case, why didn't everything take 5 min from the start . We literally waited 15 min for the refired pizza, which we stated we didn't want, but she insisted and said it would be out in 5 minutes. Pizza was great as always, kudos to the kitchen. At this point she brings the bills out .One check was for the pepperoni and veggie, the other check was for the sausage . Now keep in mind she insisted we waited for another pizza and it was gonna be on them, when we just wanted the wrong pizza taken off the bill and end it there. So she charged us for the incorrect pizza, after saying they would take care of it . Upon asking her to take the incorrect pizza off the bill she starts getting argumentative saying she never said that the pizza was free, HELLO, we said to take it off the check and we wouldn't eat it from the beginning however she insisted and told us it was on them . Being in the service industry for years, you don't argue with curstomers. Honestly the most unprofessional experience I have ever had in a restaurant and I will never be returning to flippers .What could have been an easy $20+ tip for our server, who had NO other tables in the restaurant turned into $5. Also, the kids at the tables ordered 2 sweet teas, when she came with the food and they asked for a refill, they were out of sweet tea and she offered them water... Still charged for the teas . Truly laughable experience . The Clermont location definitely needs some server training on customer service. Pitiful...
Read moreNever been to any Flippers pizza before, but thought I'd try it, after seeing it around the are for the nearly 7 yrs since moving to FL. Upon walking in, the staff were friendly, and pointed out the paper menus (because what appears to be a menu up on the wall above is really just an advertisement made to look like a menu, but whatever).
Ordered a personal-sized pizza... with some of the basics - pepperoni, Italian sausage, black olives, mushroooms, and extras asiago cheese. Pretty simple, right? And it was delivered to me quickly. No problem with the location, the staff or the cleanliness.
Unfortunately, the problem was simply... the pizza. The worse I've ever had in my life (and I've had a LOT of pizza)!! It was cooked properly, looked presentable (sorry, didn't take any pics), and had good proportions of toppings, exactly as I'd ordered.
The problem was it just WAS NOT GOOD. The crust was ok, soft and bland, the tomato sauce was present... but that was about it. No tomato flavor whatsoever. It did look fresh, as advertised, but it had no flavor?! The pepperoni was boring (not much bite to it at all), the Italian Sausage was probably the worst pizza sausage I've ever had - it felt and tasted like defrosted, bland frozen sausage. Flavorless... and greasy. The canned black olives were fine, and the chopped mushrooms were fine.
But this was THE most bland, flavorless, soggy pizza I've ever had. I didn't say anything to them, simply because it seemed properly prepared, the ingredients are just plain not good. A total waste of calories, if I'm going to be eating pizza out. I am NOT someone to waste food... and I honestly don't think I have EVER done this before, but I literally ate 2 slices of the 4-slice personal-sized pizza... and LEFT the rest (I ALWAYS take leftovers home), but this was not NOT even worth it - not even a little bit.
Again, let me say, the people working there were good, the ambiance was fine, the pizza was just horrible. I've never left such a negative food review before, but I believe in honesty... Flippers (IMHO) needs to seriously step up the quality of their ingredients. Most bland frozen pizzas I've had were far better than this. Never...
Read moreI was so excited to bring my fiancé here. We just recently moved to the Orlando area. As a central Florida native, I know flippers really well and love their pizza. However, today they dropped the ball. I am honestly so embarrassed for talking them up so much. The food was good but the service was abhorrent. It took about ten minutes for our server to acknowledge our existence. The other server on the floor stopped over twice to say that “Matt will be right with you.” We could see Matt helping other tables, but he just didn’t bother with us until it was totally convenient. Tables that walked in after us had already been brought their drinks by the time Matt came over to us. We gave Matt our whole order by the time he came over, since we’d already made up our minds. We were just getting our appetizers and tables that walked in after us were getting their mains. We flagged down the other server and asked for the manager. She basically brushed off our request and asked if we wanted our server. We said no. The pizza came out a few minutes afterwards. It was great, of course. This is also when we got our first and only refill on our drinks. (They’d been empty for a while at this point.) I’m so disappointed that this was my fiancé and I’s first experience here. I know they make everything from scratch, so the food wait isn’t a problem. But being treated as a second rate customer or afterthought is...
