I had high hopes going in as I'm from New Jersey which is like the diner capital of the world. Unfortunately I was a bit let down. The first thing I noticed was the sponsors plastered everywhere from the table tops to the one TV screen they have. Instead of TV or news on it's just scrolling through their sponsors. Now to the food. Their breakfast menu is super limited basically french toast, eggs, biscuits and gravy, chicken fried steak with the same gravy, omelettes, and probably pancakes (don't quote me though as I didn't take a photo so I'm not 100# on the pancakes). As for the good, let's start with their prices which were extremely good, I tried the eggs over easy and they were excellent, the gravy for the biscuits was on point, if I'm being honest it's similar to what I make at home. Their chicken fried steak was also very good. Now for the bad, their biscuits look look like a typical homemade southern biscuit but if I'm being honest they weren't that good, very dry and even smothered, not enjoyable. The home fries were also a salty let down. Things I'd like to see, scrapple which is a staple at northern diners, pork roll also a staple, and creamed chopped beef(mainly because I like it and alongside biscuits and gravy it would be very easy to add to the menu). I'd also like to see a change to the home fries as they were dreadful. The biscuits were likely someone's grandmother's receipe so I doubt they'll change these but they really aren't that great. Will I be back? Hard to say, with their current menu...
Read moreUpdate: Funny how they are trying to say they gave extra grits for free. If you short the food and they give you a scoop of grits plopped on top, it’s not for free. LOL. Its part of what you paid for. But glad they checked their security camera to count how many shrimp was eaten. Crazy! Too bad the camera didn’t show the rock hard biscuit or the half slice of bacon in the grits. I’m sure the camera showed how we were laughing about the food. Only thing that was good was the water, coffee and waitress. Don’t worry, will not be back for that flavorless piece of shrimp. Too MANY other restaurants in Clermont that care about their food and customers. Plus from what we saw, you clearly need that extra shrimp to stay in business.
$13.50 for a half bowl of grits and 4 shrimp. Mine did NOT look anything like the picture. No sauce. No tomatoes. Only half slice of bacon. Used to come with a biscuit. Now it’s $2.50 extra for one. And it was stale! Biggest $16.00 disappointment Ever! I complained to manager who took $1.35 off. lol Also ordered the saddest cheese omelet in the world. Not sure if new cook or management but it’s gone down hill. The manager was a joke as well. They need a new cook and manager. Managers response below speaks for itself. She’s as nasty as...
Read moreOur first time visiting this small but down hometown restaurant. The young waitress welcomed us in and told us to sit wherever we wanted. She took our drink order. A few minutes later she arrived and took our order at 9:20 am. I had the country fried steak with hash brown and 2 over medium eggs and coffee, my wife ordered the 2 pancakes with 2 eggs and bacon and apple juice. I ordered the small biscuits and gravy and she told me if I wanted this order to come out first, I said yes. A few minutes later, I received my order of biscuits and gravy. The biscuits and gravy were delicious and plentiful. The coffee was good. I’ve noticed that several regular customers are coming in, and greeting the waitress by name. As we’re sitting and waiting for our food, people arrived and were sitting at the counter and several open tables, they ordered their food, and they received their breakfast orders before we received ours. At 10 am, we received our food. The food was hot and delicious and plentiful. It took exactly 40 minutes to received our order. The young waitress was overwhelmed taking care of the regulars and came only once to filled up my coffee, because I asked. 5 stars on the food, but 2 stars on the service. The prices are reasonable and very...
